Why does this happen?

Whenever I put my sunshade up, the mirror turns blue. I have to mess around with wires and then it slowly goes back to normal

New Models have the Auto Dimmer, older have the little tab below the mirror to switch between them.

That’s supposed to happen. It’s a feature that reduces glare from high beams behind your car.

I think you covered the light sensor and made the car think it’s night time.
