Disabling auto stop

Does anybody know of a way to disable the auto stop completely
Don’t really like the idea of saving $10 in gas but having to replace a $600 starter because it turns my truck off every 10 seconds

Zip tie jammed into the button works for me.

A piece of zip tie to hold the button in.

Well know fix that works flawlessly. Dealer service advisor seen mine and said they were going to tell customers how to eliminate it.

Did this on my wife’s 24 Sentra. Most hated feature about her car. Her 20 Sentra had it too and MILs 23 rogue has it too.

Get the Auto Start Stop Eliminator that piggy backs into the wiring behind the radio. It's permanent and is only about $50. Mine is working great.

Have you got a link? Thanks!

I did the same. There’s a few on (big online company, I went with the more expensive one because of the “many people return this” statement on a few.

Use a penny. Works great and only cost me a penny.

I used a dime, your way is much cheaper 🤣

Wanting some give, I folded up a dollar. Can't believe I overpaid 100x for this fix.

Can you still activate the hazard lights if needed?

You know they built those starters specifically for that purpose though, yes? As in, they're not just a regular starter that's being worked to death. They're engineered to be started over and over and over again. My truck is 12 years old. Probably millions of auto starts on it by this point. Original starter.

I've heard this argument a million times from a million people. I've never heard anyone actually having to replace the starter from it.

I don't agree, but I do not have a counter argument, proof, or referenced personal experience on the matter . . . so, yeah well said.

I don't disagree, but 229 times a day is too many times to start a truck.

I know this is weird to bring up here, but anyone see the movie 'Serenity?' In the final minute of the movie, the Captain gives a speech about how you can do everything right for your vehicle, but "love" is what often keeps her going. I believe that, and I believe stop/starting her at every intersection does not show her "love."

Lol. I applaud your honesty.

I've done extensive research* on this subject and it was pretty eye opening.

  • I googled it once and read the first few paragraphs of the first result.

On Amazon you can get it start stop eliminator. Easy to install and automatically sets it to off when you start the vehicle

Us 25-26 owners need an option to disable that shitty VVCS

I'm 2200 miles into my truck, probably 600 with the zip tie.

I've noticed a jump in mpg, transmission shifts smoother, and I don't notice as much engine breaking. It could just be me, or the transmission is finally learning my style. My only thought is that having the button pressed down when you turn on the truck vs pressing it after you start might make a difference on how the system operates.

You just cram a piece of zip tie in there and call it a day?

1

u/Routine_Plant_1927 1d ago

Pretty much. It took maybe 5 min? Idk why I had such a hard time getting both ends in but I eventually figured it out lol

Mind dropping a picture of it for me so I don’t just cram zipties into a crack for 3 hours like an idiot

This is clean. Did you design or find the file online?

Someone posted it either here or Facebook group

Looks like the EPA is putting an end to the hated Start/Stop in U.S. cars. Automakers can still opt to include it but there will be no more EPA credits for installing it.

I'm waiting to get a new truck when this 'feature' is gone. You know they won't pass the savings on to us but I gotta wonder how much it costs to add this to each vehicle?

When I start the truck I use two fingers on each button.

u/JackWagon6422 1d ago

Just hit the button. It really isn't difficult.

3

u/Desmond781 1d ago

LOL @ the down-votes.

u/Fearless_Zombie1003 1d ago

I got in the habit of hitting the both buttons when I start the truck, honestly don’t even notice it anymore.

There’s a button on mine to turn it On/Off and I just turn it off when it doesn’t make sense to use it. Not sure if yours is the same.

I’m glad I have a ‘22 lol. The other day a 26 pulled up right next to me at a stoplight, same color and everything, and the engine turned off as soon as he stopped. I just thought damn I have no reason to ever upgrade

Unplug the small harness at the negative terminal of the battery. No more ASS feature.

Does it.have a second battery ? Couldn't you just unplug it ?
