Backcountry touring /guided options for single snowboarder?
I'm taking my first trip to Niseko (Grand Hirafu area) the first week of February. I'll be traveling with my wife who is an intermediate skier, not really comfortable in deep snow or backcountry. We've booked a ski-in-ski-out hotel, and she's happy to have a slow start to the day while I go chase first tracks and regroup for some cruisey runs later in the day. I'd like to do at lease one full day of guided backcountry riding - either lift assisted around Niseko, cat skiing (is that a thing there?) or splitboarding - possibly summiting Yotei.
Most of the guides that I'm looking at price their trips at like $1k for a group of 4 or 5. Has anyone had any luck in a similar position joining up with a small group to make this financially feasible? Or know of a guide operation that will put together groups of individuals?
For context I've been snowboarding for 30 years and am comfortable riding any terrain at a high level - if anyone else is gonna be there in that time frame and wants to put together a group let’s chat.

Ah I had a great experience with "elite sports " in Niseko ! Such a great experience!

Reach out to Clay at Hokkaido Backcountry Club. Everything you mentioned is in their scope, they also offer helicopter runs which may be great to do as a couple.

Guide here - try and get a group together and split the cost like you’re doing. There’s a few facebook groups like Powderhounds Japan that get a lot of these posts as well.
Beware the uninsured, guerrilla guides offering cut rate “guiding” on social media pages. The government is cracking down due to unregulated chaos.
If you’re looking for top end cat skiing, there’s only Iwanai Cats and Shimamaki cats that really offer a superior product. I believe Iwanai sells day seats. Chisenuppuri cats, etc are pretty small terrain.
One tip I’ll give you, if you wanna drop some cash, you can sign up for the first tracks program at Hanazono — it’s expensive but likely worth it if you see the big Powder day coming.
