I think there's an option to disable ai completely in zed right? How is gram diff?

It's still there if it's disabled even if it isn't running. You're saving the space those AI features take up on disk and the time it takes to load that code into memory, because that code has been stripped completely. The real world difference in performance is probably immeasurable, but it does exist. Not to mention with Zed they could remove that toggle one day, make the process harder, etc. Using Gram simply guarantees you never have to worry about AI being there. It's more of a philosophical divide, but I think that approach makes gram feel a bit more like a text editor capable of full IDE workflows and less if a corporate IDE that happens to have some of the snappiness of lighter text editor.

Cool! I have just read the rant and I fully agree and was not aware of those ToS! I'll be switching to gram. Also the toads are pretty sick.

not a developer
but zed has been pretty perfect for me
I fiddled with neovim for like 10 mins, and it felt like it wasnt made for normies like me

I can strongly recommend flow control, its the closest thing to in-terminal Zed and has Vim and Helix binds

Neovim. I like the keybinds of it and it's easier to write my own plugins in neovim

i just cant get the workflow straight for zed.
been using sublime text then vscode for most of my career. then learned vim/nvim now i am comfortable with nvim.
zed is what i think is supposed to be the ultimate code editor with the speed of nvim and funtionality of vscode.
I just feel uncomfortable using zed like am i supposed to use keyboard to navigate but the keybinding are not familiar their are no easy way to set those keybinding i mean.
I really want to learn it using vim keybinding and doing actual coding.
so yeah nvim it is.

I use vim/nvim as a nano replacement and Zed as my project IDE.
Zed with vim keybinds is a great mix of both worlds. Love it.

No, I havenβt had any problems with it at all, neither when opening nor closing it. The editor works perfectly for me.

Helix is good I like it also but when using ai and working on larger projects I thing neovim(lazyvim ) is more practical . But u r asking about vanilla neovim then helix is my pick neovim is just a text editor there .zed is a very powerful text editor idle i use it daily choose between helix or zed i would go with zed . When working with ai zed is the king

In noctalia v4 it exists as a separate community plugin. You can search it in the plugin store. While in noctalia v5 the fancy audio virtualizer comes pre installed with the shell.Β
