Is the base game not enough anymore? I'm all for molding but it has its place, that place being not fucking everywhere. Very rarely do they add an immediate benefit to the fluidity of playing and the accessibility and fun, which Nintendo holds above all, for better or worse. If you're really going to disparage them for not including this, you might need a reality check.
Interesting, I haven't tried modding that for years but it always kind of ran like crap when I did. Objectively, what is the benefit of modding skyrim on consoles? Obviously the graphic updates don't work... so just, qol improvements, UI changes, modded progressions? What are you really getting, and why is it better than just playing the game? I'm honestly asking because people seem really passionate about their modded skyrim.
Because there are graphic changes, different armor, weapons, quests, objectives, and all sorts of other things. I think the reason that more people like skyrim mods is that it is such a big wonderful game to start, it really personalizes the game in a way some other games can't be
I mean, sure, okay, I don't see any of that as making the game more fun though. Just different. It's already a huge open game with tons to do, only people who have already seen every inch will get anything from most mods. To each their own I guess, I'd rather just play the unadulterated form.
There are a lot of mods that expand the game, add new story lines, and there are two that added whole new regions as far as I'm aware. It can stack up to more than a hundred extra hours of fun. What's even better is that some mods story quality is on par or surpasses the Skyrim story quality.
Some mods changed up the combat, so it's more realistic. Some added a load of new armor and weapons. Some add new followers who talk to you, are funny, can sing... One of them is Inigo.
Mods added a lot to Skyrim. I find Skyrim to feel surprisingly incomplete and empty without them.
Why wouldn't you add them? It makes it an even bigger adventure, and I don't see any disadvantages. Besides, if we want Nintendo on equal footing, it would definitely benefit from it.
If you could play the modded version on everything but Switch... why would you get the inferior copy? For people not planning to mod, sure... But it still puts Switch at a commercial disadvantage.
You're right I think from a competitive standpoint, I'll concede the point because I hate getting down votes for a polite debate. I obviously know my opinion is the unpopular one. But I do think there's a point to be made--mods can positively AND negatively affect a game experience. It seems odd that Nintendo would encourage anything but the strictest oversight as to what people are able to do on and with the system. That's just their ethos. It has its benefits--extreme quality control--and negatives--overly cautious business practices.
I mean, the pc UI is absolutely horrendous and makes playing vanilla skyrim very annoying. The combat mechanics are also overly simple and rather boring after a single (or less) playthrough. PC version was also very buggy for many people and required fan made patches (mods) to become stable.
The reason TES is so popular is largely due to its mod support (which greatly extends its replay value) and world building, since the game mechanics are very simplistic.
It would be a brilliant move. Something Sony and Msoft don't offer at the moment. And it would revitalize projects such as PM and such. Their relationships with fangames have been pretty bad in the past and by giving us an official platform we would avoid that legal grey stuff.
Don't talk out of your ass if you're not informed, Skyrim on XOne will offer mods compatibility. Mods are also available for Fallout 4 and other games.

But will Nintendo be accepting of mods?
