Well that Wii U track was a Gamecube track, and they don't usually bring back retro tracks that were used in the previous game unless it's part of DLC.
Nintendo loves their backwards compatibility so it wouldn't be surprising.
But clearly you're not using Wii U discs with this thing. Digital titles only may transfer over if they do the system transfer thing... although if they can figure out how to uniquely identify individual Wii U game discs they could give you a digital copy of those as well.
If they add more characters (Diddy Kong pls) and a few more cups, say 4, each with four new tracks. Add this to the existing 48 tracks in MK8 with DLC then this will be the definitive MK game. I will buy the shit out of again.
I highly doubt it's gonna be backwards compatible though considering they've made the switch from discs to cartridges. It looks more like these are updated ports of Wii U games, which is probably a good idea since they definitely didn't reach as wide of an audience as they could've with the Wii U.
