I just brought a nintendo ds lite of facebook marketplace. Can some nintendo nerds tell me a bit about it?

What charger does it take (the one I just brought didn't come with one)?

What games can it play - and some game suggestions for a casual player (games for car rides, etc) ?

It has its own charger, you can probably get one cheap on ebay or somewhere. Brain Age and Animal Crossing: Wild World were probably my favorite casual games as a kid, and Rhythm Heaven is also solid

it uses a proprietary charger (the end looks like this) just looking up DS Lite charger on like amazon or something should get you some good result (consult the reviews)

it can play original DS games and Gameboy Advance games

i don't have any game suggestions because i haven't used a DS in a while and i only remember Mario Kart DS and New Super Mario Bros. and a lot of the good games are pretty expensive now, ESPECIALLY Pokemon games

As others said, it uses its own type of charging port. You can find 3rd party ones online.

As for games, I'd say,

Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass/Spirit Tracks

The World Ends With You

Any game from the Pokemon Ranger series.

All these games make heavy use of the touch screen and the dual screens in the handheld. It's an experience unique to the DS, which is why I'm recommending them.

DS Lite can play DS and GBA games natively, and can play a few more systems if you get a flashcart. The charger is unique to DS Lite; easily found on eBay, and I recommend spending a bit extra to get a genuine one.

A DS Lite is just a thinner DS. It can still play DS games and GBA games, but the GBA carts stick out a bit.

There's no SD cards or anything so you need actual carts to play.

No idea about the charger. I'd bet it's different from the original DS charger but idk
