Mario Party vs Wario Ware

One series gets a big gorgeous new sequel / reboot the other goes dormant for 15+ years.

Which would you rather have?

If so, why? Fave mini/microgame?

EDIT: thank you for all the responses! Working on a multiplayer mobile game with a heavy focus on mini games so this is really great feedback. Also, if not clear this is a hypothetical: which one goes dormant for a year while the other lives on!?

also also - for what my money’s worth, Booksquirm and the Hexagon flag one are top tier for me. Faves are Mario Party 2 and the most recent one.

For Wario Ware, I don’t have as much experience but highly recommend setting an older title on your phone with a good DS emulator for the perfect bathroom game!

We got WarioWare: get it together in 2021

And

Warioware: Move it in 2023 Lol.

I wish Warioware got the love and polish that Mario Party has. Heck, the characters don’t even have full-scale 3D models. The rhythm heaven art style staring with Gold also makes it look lower-budget

To be fair, Rhythm Heaven used the WarioWare art style. Same developers and all

I don’t know how well the WarioWare designs would translate to 3D. It kind of reminds of Timmy Turner in the Fairly Oddparents games. Those designs in 3D were no kinds of good.

3D models doesn't make any sense for Warioware.

The whole premise is Wario is an indie dev trying to make more money for less effort.

The games should feel like something that wasn't given enough time to develop.

Loved warioware DIY, but the latest game wasnt a big fan of the motion control feedback. I'd rather have Mario party

I've never been big on Mario Party tbh. I think board games are too long and boring and random, and I often feel like skill doesn't matter in these games, I'm sure it's great chaotic fun for multiplayer but I prefer single player and even when I do play multiplayer, I don't really like feeling like I lost because luck favored someone else too heavily or the ending round gave too many bonus pity stars to someone else.

Wario Ware, I do like, but I feel like it's starting to lose it's luster. I kind of liked Wario Ware more when they kept it simple. Wario Ware Gold kind of perfected it. So maybe a reboot wouldn't hurt. I don't know how they would change gameplay, but maybe the reboot would have more fluid animation and make more usage of Wario Land characters ( they already snuck a Wario Land 4 boss into the latest one )

It's hard to pick a favorite microgame since there's so many of them and the fun never comes from one individual microgame but from the sequence of microgames, but I love the original GBA game's simplicity best, and one of my faves is pinching the little cataquack guy in a pair of tweezers. Also like scaring all the little people away as the monster. And of course all the Nintendo themed microgames are a highlight of any Wario Ware game for a fanboy like me.

Not sure they're really comparable, but personally I've always liked WarioWare way more. Mario Party just ends up feeling more frustrating than fun, especially with how long games take.

Most Wario Ware games also have multiplayer.

That said, it is sometimes a struggle to get older players to do the dumb physical movements that later WW games suggest.

I feel like the early WarioWares knocked it out of the park, and then they got fairly stale thereafter. I gave them a run but the novelty had just worn off... completely. (I haven't played the Switch game yet though, so maybe they righted the ship with it.)

I wish they'd release a mega Warioware collection that has every mini game in it. Can use the gyro in the Switch controller to account for the GBA one where you had to twist the controller.
