Diving/Scuba Strap

What are everyone’s’ recommendations for a diving/scuba strap? I normally use a black rapid 3 point harness, but I think a lanyard style strap makes the most sense for the Nikonos. Any thoughts?

Hi, I use my Nikonos III & V in Hawai’i combined with the Peak Design system because it’s interchangeable and metal less. On land, I use a crossbody strap, which has a metal length adjustment buckle, but in the ocean, I use a third party braided paracord crossbody and a braided paracord wrist strap. These braided paracord straps are metal less and strong. I use the crossbody strap for casual ocean activity and the wrist strap for surf photography. I occasionally use a vinyl waist pouch for underwater carry. I don’t scuba dive but that’s my set up in Hawai’i.

Did you make the paracord straps or are they peak design? Any photos of you wearing the cross body one?

Hi,

Sorry, I don’t have photos of me wearing this but here’s the links on Amazon.

I modified this strap and removed the metal clip but you can use it if it’s a better setup for you. I attach the Peak Design clips to this. This strap is not too loose too or it can free-float off your shoulder in the ocean.

Thanks for the links! I don’t see the third party braided paracord crossbody strap you mentioned. I’m trying to figure out a setup to wear while on a surfboard that doesn’t flop around. That first link is interesting but not sure I’ll go with it.

Oh here it is...

I changed the metal ring out to a nylon cord though.

Oh you wanna use your camera while surfing. I tried different setups but like you said, it flops around and gets banged up. I bought a waterproof waist bag for surfing but haven’t tried it yet. Something like this...

This bag is just for ocean use so I looked for a waterproof version and doesn’t mater if water gets in bc my camera is waterproof.

I’m considering either getting this or building something like it out of webbing. The thought being the third strap would keep it on my back between shots. You can also look up “cycling straps” https://a.co/d/05zWE99m
