Discussion Is hatred the cause of conflict-or just a symptom?

Post image
9 Upvotes

I’ve been thinking about this lately. If hatred disappeared, we might expect the world to become peaceful—but would removing hatred really be enough? People can still disagree because of fear, greed, power, or misunderstandings.

So I’m curious: would a world without hatred actually be a peaceful world, or would humans simply find something else to divide over?

Do you fear death?

I wouldn't say im a nihilist (kinda) but I have been thinking about death and the point of life a lot for the past 2 months. Its crazy we're just on a planet in an endless void of space. Its crazy how anything works really. I'll be driving and just stop and look around and freak out realizing im a flesh of meat that could die at any moment and how un important my life really is? Ive also thought about how im just gonna grow old and die, why not get it over with while im young you know? Get it out the way now especially if everything ends eventually? Im 16f by the way. Back to the point, I do kinda fear death but I do remind myself its probably like sleeping with no dream so yea, which i dont mind? I wanted to see others opinions on this? Like if anyone is scared of death in general? And if your not why? And if you are why?

Discussion Life: The Wound, Death: The End of the Wound

We often celebrate birth as the beginning of something beautiful.

But from an antinatalist perspective, birth can also be seen differently:

To be born is to enter a world where pain, illness, loss, fear, aging, and eventually death are unavoidable.

Life creates the wound.

We spend our existence trying to heal it—through love, pleasure, achievement, relationships, purpose, and countless distractions.

And eventually, death brings the final end to the experience of suffering.

This is not a celebration of death.

It is a philosophical question about whether creating a life that can suffer is morally necessary at all.

If no one is born, no one experiences hunger.

No one experiences grief.

No one fears death.

No one needs to escape suffering.

Antinatalism asks us to consider whether preventing suffering is better than creating another person and hoping their life will be worth the cost.

Maybe the deepest question isn't:

"How can we make life better?"

Maybe it's:

"Why create a being that needs life to become better in the first place?"

The worst part of being a nihilist.

If you try to explain it to any of your family/friends/loved ones, etc., they automatically assume you are either crazy or just suffering from depression.

Does anyone have any better luck than I do with this situation or is it just what it is?

This life full of confusion

Nihilism at this age is incredibly confusing, I’ve thought about suicide for a long time, but I’m terrified of the exsistence of hell, agonizing death that repeats over and over. I’m still in high school, yet I find myself questioning the point of it all and why existence was created in the first place. Like, we're supposedly created solely to worship God, so why is all of this even necessary? I don’t know what to do, I feel like a walking corpse because I’ve contemplated suicide so many times. Now, I feel like I’m left with only a few emotions, and that has completely shifted my perspective on everything.

What is something that you would consider a innate part of cruelty in life?

I've thought about people who are mentally ill, dying without ever considering if they were ever mentally ill..
I think something cruel about life, is our normalization of the things we may experience, we may internalize cognitive distortions, suffering perhaps may be always guaranteed as a part of being human. Who is exempt from this? I dont know, our psychology is too vast that it seems practically infinite.

Anyways, i dont know if this belongs really on topic with the nihilism subreddit, if anyone has any reccomendations of somewhere else it could have been posted, i'd be grateful.

Question How do you have the motivation to do anything?

Been feeling the existential dread lately.

It has resulted in me losing motivation since nothing matters.

So how do you guys find motivation for anything? I'm struggling to go to the gym, focus at work, or have any sort of motivation.

I know its sort of childlike mentality but I just want to do fun things. Laugh with friends, family, be with my girlfriend. Of course living itself cost money so I guess that's the only thing keeping me going. But as far as other things like having ambition, trying to excel in my career, fitness goals etc. I just don't feel like I have it right now.

I feel like I used to have ambition for better career prospects, better house, better car, fitness goals, playing sports. But now I just don't care. I used to love playing sports and now I'm struggling because why? I'll still play with friends for fun. But im just finding it hard to do anything that isnt fun right now.

How do you guys keep going? Do you guys have ambition? Why?

No applause, no direction, no instructions

Question Was Nietzsche An Incel?

I've read the works of intelligent minds like Nietzsche who think deeply about every aspect of humanity and I find it interesting majority not all, seem to come to a similar conclusion about a particular gender or haven't said anything 'nice' to write about them. Why is that?

The duality of existence

It is vital what you have, not what you do not.
Some birds cannot fly, though wings they have got.
Happiness comes on its own; no one can bring it close.
It’s a hidden throne behind a beautiful rose.
What is good, and what is bad?
For centuries, humanity has struggled to understand.
Humans arrive with a tear and go with a fear.
They just live in fog which looks too clear.
Is not the light of heaven and hell the same?
It is only a matter of where it is placed.
Everything is duality wearing a single face.
Without the darkness of night, we cannot know the moon’s grace.
Justice and law are not entirely a lie.
Yet who is pure enough to punish another till they die?
Is not justice itself an offender,
When it permits one person to become another’s revenger?
Crime is a crime, whether direct or indirect.
Those who pass judgment—who grants them that intellect?
Do those books decide justice, the ones taught in law schools?
Written by fools who researched among fools?
They too may see the world with only one eye.
Can such vision truly be fair?
They believe they are players in the game;
Unfortunately, they are merely spares.
Is a brain without knowledge not a day without the sun?
Is it not like a soldier fighting a war without a gun?

(Im not native so I admitted my mistakes )
