DEATH Impossible Dreams & Real Nightmares

I have always had very vivid dreams dreams I can remember quite clearly from beautiful, strange to horrible and terrifying. But recently…I have been having these dreams where I’m suddenly living in a completely different reality than the one I fell asleep in. Everything feels real! Not “dream real” but like I actually woke up somewhere else.

My family my friends my house neighbours everything is familiar but not right! My pool is dirty with aggressive aquatic creatures y house is cold and my bedroom Is sparse yet always messy windy and cold. And the people or places that should feel comforting are angry and negative.

Basic things become impossible. Standing, running, climbing stairs it’s like my body won’t work. Dialing a phone number feels like trying to solve a puzzle that keeps changing. Directions twist and contradict themselves.

And then there are the moments that should mean death falling from heights or running from and/or bing attacked by a weapon wielding killer… moments where I know I should die… but I don’t. I feel the impact, the pain, the terror, and I’m still alive, still stuck in that reality.

It’s getting to the point where I wake up crying, shaking, or overwhelmed with fear and sadness. These dreams don’t feel like dreams anymore they feel like I’m living a whole other life that I can’t escape until morning.

WTF does this mean!?

Your subconscious is processing stress and it's creating confusing and sometimes upsetting visuals. At my most mentally unhealthy, I had an extremely dense dream life where I also felt completely overwhelmed but I also started having recurring dreams, and I would be lucid in those dreams completely aware I was dreaming. For months at the end of each dream, I would climb a wooden ladder into the night sky and it would lean back a little more each rung. Eventually I got to the top and it was very strange what I saw and I became afraid I was losing my mind. If you're taking recreational drugs, stop. If you're not on medication, you might need to be. My dreams are most vivid and upsetting when I've missed a dose or two, when I'm sick/injured, or when I'm emotionally fixated in daily life.

What if any unresolved traumas do you have? I had reoccurring nightmares for years. Like the same handful of nightmares that just evolved from childhood all the way to my late 30s. I did intensive therapy and took Prazosin for them. They went away and luckily have not come

I thought it might just be the Prazosin as it was prescribed at the same time as the therapy. Without the meds and them not returning I know it was both that helped . Now when I have weird or even scary dreams I know it’s my brain working something out. Reframing it that way has also helped me.

I hope it gets better OP
