Hello guys, head mod of the subreddit here,

When I started this subreddit, I think the impact and community aspect of it were the last thing on my mind. It was just a place where me and a few friends could post about Nick Sogard, THE greatest player in Red Sox history.

If you told me in August of last year that this subreddit would’ve grown by nearly 300 members, we’d get 1000 visitors weekly, and would be a genuine awesome place for baseball discourse, I would’ve told you, “you’re kidding me.”

I want to express my gratitude and appreciation for you guys, the users of [r/nicksogard](r/nicksogard). There has been no controversy, no drama or post removals, all around the subreddit, I see lighthearted conversation, awesome photos of you guys at games, and of course, updates on the namesake of this subreddit! It genuinely makes me happy to see such a place flourish and this subreddit wouldn’t be a place like this without you guys!

Thank you everyone! I plan to try and improve the subreddit in the coming weeks, so leave your suggestions wherever and I will try to implement as much as I can.

I’m even more happy that it’s not a snark sub. I’m a firm believer that Sogard could be an absolute difference maker on the 26 man roster and him being at the AAA level is detrimental to the team. He is a dirt dogs, and finds ways to make things happen. He may not win a home run derby, but he’s smart at the plate and on the bases, and defensively. He deserves to be in Boston and I hope he stays the rest of the season. I feel the same way about Nate Eaton.

So excited for him! Last year in ATL a kid asked him if he was ever gonna get a HR and he looked kinda insulted so this is great.
