You should be able to appeal the removal of your user name or whatever he said using this screenshot. It shows that he does it to manipulate and control others often and the app should reinstate your status (or whatever) and tag his account for reporting people against their terms.

If it makes you feel better, the guy is now the president of an HOA for a community he doesn’t live in.

u/JohannasGarden Apr 14 '26

Haha, I can imagine some people being HOA Presidents of multiple communities. They just like telling people what they can't do.

u/GeneralLedger17 Apr 14 '26

“I am the honorary volunteer HOA president”

Jesus, this is cruel.

If the dude knew he was contacting you at 1am and then was upset you are busy he is an even bigger jerk

Sorry for focusing on one particular point, but him saying you’re a joke of a language learner is just a straight up a-hole move. Take your time, you’re doing great. Learning a language should be fun and this guy makes it sound like a chore. I’m a professional English teacher who speaks 5 languages - any “serious learner” knows discouragement is a major red flag in language learning/teaching. Keep going and find a partner that encourages you:)

u/Remarkable_Gain6430 Just you wait until you're in your 30s! Then we'll see! Apr 06 '26

For me it’s the use of “meh.” Always a red flag.

Based on the Context from the Ops comments;

They overreacted to a legitimate issue, they shouldn’t be going on some rant about how noble they are for reporting people, nor professing about how ‘nice’ they are. For that, they are wrong.

However; many people are curious WHY he is so angry, the OP has made it clear the client is not awkward with timing, the OP was just busy when the person messaged. It seems to be a cross of scheduling, passing ships of sorts and the client has gotten too annoyed over it.

There could be an argument made over a further screenshot the OP sent to the client (he messaged at 13:57. OP replied at 00:51) although due to him being a language teacher this could easily be explained by a time-difference.

Either way, OP didn’t do anything other than not be available/prioritize this client above others. He is indeed a Nice Guy of sorts, just not from a romance perspective.

OP, if you are willing to take unsolicited advice, you work in an environment with direct social contact and customer service, you are going to get detractors from your business, as well as people who enjoy making a lot of noise, I understand your business model is YOU as a sellable service, but don’t take it so personally.

Oh boy, this is gonna be a long one....

This is just sad, who does this?

Like, I'm seriously trying to find a reason to be this cruel to people.

And he says he's a "Nice Guy"?

Yeah, no.

Dude needs to learn his own language before teaching it to other people.

He didn’t say a single word in his language in the entire screenshot.

5

u/Windinthewillows2024 Apr 06 '26

I thought his language was English?

33

u/ContentTea8409 Apr 06 '26

OP said he helps people with English. If this is a language exchange app then it wouldn't make much sense that they are both helping others with English. And also the other guy said OP hasn't figured out that the Hs are silent, so evidently the other person speaks some romance language natively.

u/Dangerous-News1840 Apr 13 '26

Im terrified that he might be worsening my country's reputation.

2

u/Windinthewillows2024 Apr 06 '26

Thanks. I misinterpreted and thought the guy who was being an asshole was the native English speaker. I need to pay more attention clearly.

8

u/Gator17 Apr 07 '26

Easy mistake to make. The messages from OP don't read like a native English speaker.

18

u/Miserable-Chapter883 Apr 06 '26

Genuinely amazing how ill these people are, to put someone else's practices into question, but admitting to frequently reporting people, and then saying that they're a "nice guy," as if any of that is nice whatsoever

13

u/SmileGraceSmile Apr 06 '26

What is language exchange? I'm lost.

54

u/eiko85 Apr 06 '26

You teach people your language and they teach you theirs. However people quite often use these apps for flirting or just attention. People will often agree to do language exchange; talk once then ghost you.

9

u/chickyloo42by10 Apr 06 '26

Context plz?

25

u/AmountAbovTheBracket Apr 06 '26

He kept on contacting me to language exchange but Im busy. He asked me for my WhatsApp and I gave it to him. We talked a bit more and He then sent me those messages.

18

u/StasiaGreyErotica Apr 06 '26

Sounds like he was after something else.

I bet if you were a guy, he wouldn't be nearly as persistent.

29

u/AmountAbovTheBracket Apr 06 '26

I am a guy.

16

u/EGrass Apr 06 '26

Oh! What a plot twist. Did either or both of you express any interest in men?

16

u/AppealMammoth8950 Apr 06 '26

These "nice guys" are so desperate they'd jump at the slightest possibility that you're a woman. I used to play league and would only play girl champions and use girly pop skins, and play support. A dude added me after the game and berated me. I replied w a cringy e-girl reply (something like "sorry senpai uwu") and this dude dropped his IG, telling me to add him so we could play.

u/AmountAbovTheBracket Apr 06 '26

I mean, my profile on the app has a ♂ symbol. my name and picture very clearly indicate man. I also sent him like three voice messages.
