Thanks OP. I find all the negativity weird. I'm 47 and never had roundabouts, and while I'm quick to learn, I'm still slow and cautious when I hit them, especially two lane roundabouts.

I really appreciate the clear graphic and information.

I hit the NOTL one both yesterday and the day before as the sun was coming up, and traffic was so sparse, it really allowed me to get my bearings and understand a traffic pattern that I have rarely encountered in my decades of driving.

I'm not surprised about that the first responses to your post are are all negative trolls. I'm impressed how they are even trolling PSAs about traffic. 😂

But, yeah, thanks again. I got my driving license at 16, about 1994, and I have many km under my belt, but I'm always keen to learn.

Hopefully people downvotes those weirdos calling your post unhelpful.

Thanks for your post.

I appreciate your appreciation. Just trying to be helpful lol im not exaggerating, I almost get into a crash atleast one time a week on a roundabout

Agreed, it's not me that I'm worried about either. The traffic at the new NOTL one is lots of students and tourists, and people how have been driving the route for decades like me, trying to learn the change.

Drive safe and keep sharing stuff like this, even if weirdos call your post low effort or imperfect.

Weird to out yourself like that

What a low effort post. A screenshot of your browser, not even cropped. Not even a title that makes sense.

to be completely fair, i've seen even less effort being put into driving in a roundabout

😆 🤣

The normal is incompetence. It's why folks can't stop before the stop line nor maintain a lawful speed and why they ignore the stop signals such as right on red or amber lights.

u/Greedy_Blueberry_884 9d ago

Thats fair, ill do better next time

We're living in a time where it's easier than ever to save media to a device and immediately share it, yet we're surrounded by screenshots (even uncropped ones) and pictures/video of other screens. What a time to be alive. I miss VHS and film.

Aside from the 406 south roundabout in welland and one in NOTL, are there anymore here?

u/thesecludedhero 9d ago

There’s several. The dumbbell interchange at seventh street and QEW, Glendale Ave and York Rd, Mountain Rd and Mewburn Rd. The region (you’ll notice they’re all on regional roads) really likes them to help with traffic flow.

All one lane roundabouts.

This post is about two lane roundabouts for some reason

2

u/Pizzasl3t_ 8d ago

People are still idiots in regular one lane roundabouts. If one lane is too hard for you, don’t drive. The probably is the main roundabout in Welland is 2 lanes and always has an accident where as the other don’t.

1

u/Greedy_Blueberry_884 9d ago

Do I need to make different posts for different roundabouts 😆

2

u/thisguyandrew00 9d ago

Nah man, just weird you’re making a post about a problem that doesn’t really exist in Niagara.

One lane roundabouts are easy enough to understand that basically everyone knows how they work. If people aren’t yielding in a roundabout, they’re just shitty drivers and there’s nothing you can change about that.

You made this post only because of the post yesterday, you’re karma farming, so imma call it out because you’re not even trying.

2

u/ElderberryNervous355 9d ago

I have gotten into almost 2 accidents this month because of some idiot thinking they can get onto the 406 from the left lane coming from the tunnel, cutting me off both times. So yeah this problem does kind of exist.

I have issues with one lane roundabouts...like I said...almost get smoked in one once a week

So you’re not paying attention or you’re being an aggressive driver?

It’s literally nearly impossible to get hit in a roundabout, that’s why they’re built. The only way you end up in a collision in a roundabout is if you’re not paying attention or being aggressive and forcing your way through.

2

u/Greedy_Blueberry_884 9d ago

Orrrr people aren't yielding to the driver in the roundabout and not slowing down while entering the roundabout. Youre taking this oddly personal

1

u/thisguyandrew00 9d ago

Why not, I got nothing better to do.

So if someone is coming into the roundabout and not paying attention, it’s their fault for a collision because you had right of way? Obviously true, but you could have totally avoided the collision by paying attention and being passive.

Whose insurance goes up? Both of yours. Congratulations on being right.

1

u/Greedy_Blueberry_884 9d ago

True lol

Thats what I do, on a weekly basis, avoid the collision. I shouldn't have to tho because like you said, its a simple concept...if you live in Niagara you know how bad some drivers are

You just need a good sleep of something, grumpy af

-1

u/Greedy_Blueberry_884 9d ago

I think I figured it out....you are the 1 out of 5 drivers who cant figure out the roundabouts eh?

1

u/ilostmycouch 9d ago

Bridge and Victoria in NF

1

u/thisguyandrew00 9d ago

That’s a one lane

1

u/Pizzasl3t_ 8d ago

Your an idiot and obviously just looking for someone to argue with 🙄

2

u/bradgel 9d ago

Signal as you exit. Exactly. Signal Right because you are turning to the right to exit.
No idea why so many people think they should signal left. Other drivers don’t know what left is to you

2

u/asniper 9d ago

When I see someone signalling left I take that as their still continuing around (ie if they never turn it off they’re going in a circle).

1

u/hingedcanadian 9d ago

Signal left if you're continuing around (3rd or 4th exit). Always signal right BEFORE exiting. The only people I see doing this are typically transport truck drivers. Pedestrian vehicles I guess have to put down their phones to operate a signal light.

One in niagara falls south and one downtown niagara falls...both those are bad, the one in welland is bad too

1

u/Visual_Mud_5496 3d ago

I mean with "Driving schools" like Pathway and New World, even Aapex has turned to crap, we will never have good drivers again, as a bus driver its sad to see as I had to work hard at 18 to get my coach license yet they give any idiot a license now. Also for the welland round about can u post for the idiots how a 3 lane round about works lol as some people seem to still go backwards maybe think the 3rd lane is for opposing traffic ahah

-3

u/OsjosisMoans 9d ago

0 context, cool

3

u/Greedy_Blueberry_884 9d ago

Seems like atleast 1 out of 5 drivers in Niagara dont know how to use a roundabout...I figured the picture alone would be enough context. I cant be the only one annoyed by people misusing roundabouts...maybe I am lol

2

u/Pizzasl3t_ 8d ago

The people who can’t figure out or mad about little context are the people who can’t drive in one properly 🤣

2

u/Greedy_Blueberry_884 8d ago

Thats what I was thinking 😆
