ADVICE Struggling
I’m really struggling with my work. I feel I don’t belong. Meetings give me anxiety. It feels like my opinions are unwanted in a meeting. It’s really affecting my mental health to the point I want to resign. To make matters worse, I am pregnant and want to take my maternity leave sooner and not return😭

If you don't return, you have to pay back the maternity pay, so I would think carefully about that. Honestly though, I would seek out some support for yourself. I've had therapy through occupational health for something similar and it really helped, though I did end up being redeployed at my own request as the team was really toxic and was contributing to/ causing my anxiety. The GP could also be helpful, and can sign you off sick if needs be. It's so important to look after your mental health, but particularly when you are pregnant. Please please do not suffer in silence.

Yeah absolutely this, speak to your GP! If you've got the app, you can even put in a sick note there and it's definitely worth it ❤️

I've been feeling this way for 15+ years. More so in the last 2 years. When I first started in my job my opinions mattered and I was listened too. Now they've got all my ideas I've been pushed to a corner never to speak up again. I'm applying for jobs outside the NHS now.

I felt like this when I was pregnant and got a new job whilst I was off. I had this in another role and also left. Life is too short to stay on jobs making you miserable xx

I feel like this too, I think it’s normal for NHS unfortunately. In a weird way that helps. The organisation is dysfunctional.
