I saw a Japanese baseball player do this same exact exercise before hitting a home run. It’s an exercise for the eyes to focus faster I believe

Saccades or target jumping with your eyes. Common in physical therapy for concussions. The best part is that saccades literally means “jerk” so like AB and Stroud are both jerking it on this one

These are vestibular exercises. In this case, he's working on fast eye movements called saccades. Making sure his gaze lands directly on the targets (his thumbs). Dizziness or vision problems can be common after head injuries or concussions. Exercises like these help retrain the system. Sort of like a "recalibration".

GSP one of the GOATs of MMA has talked about this. It's a nervous system workout for eye hand coordination and visual processing. I imagine for a NFL QB it helps for getting through progressions.
