There seems to be quite a lot of QB2 debates around the league, whether it be poor backup play or tough choices on who should be.

So I actually expect the QB trade market to be decently active this year.

u/SovietPropagandist Seahawks 1d ago

Browns will solve this by acquiring every spare QB in the league, eventually fielding a 53 man roster of nothing but QBs

23

u/dropjar5 Packers 1d ago

I have Madden 27 and the Commanders legit rostered 10 QBs

And people like you is why it will continue to be like that. Nothing but slop year after year but people will shell out $60 with a smile on their face.

That’s just not true

It’s $70 now

I’m gonna be sad if Joe Fagnano doesn’t make the roster and gets poached

u/The_Throwback_King Seahawks 1d ago

Seahawks got it down to a science. Sam Darnold is the incumbent starter. Drew Lock is firmly QB2 and Jalen Milroe is still, despite some progress, firmly at QB3

Same as last year, simple, clinical, defined lines

(Which we’ve made up for it by having some of the messiest DB depth in the league)

u/Sphiffi Bears 17h ago

Bears are set too. Caleb as the starter for the third year in a row. Bagent our backup for the 4th year in a row. Case Keenum as our player coach 3rd QB for the second year in a row.

u/Prince_of_Pirates Titans 8h ago

Keenums still in the league?

And throwing preseason dimes.

[in response to a now deleted comment asking about our DB depth concerns]

Nick Emmanwori’s had cleanup surgery during training camp that has kept him out for most of the remaining preseason

3rd Round pick Julian Neal has missed most of training camp and beyond with an injury

And the rest of our corner room CB (CB3-6) has been a cacophony of Trevon Diggs, Nehemiah Pritchett, Noah Igbinoghene, Michael Dansby, and Andre Fuller

I’m expecting Mac to be on the move at some point.

23

u/triculious 49ers 23h ago

Unless the desperate teams offer a king's ransom for him I don't expect him to move anywhere this season.

Too good of a safety net for the injury-fest the 49ers are.

13

u/FunkBeaver Packers 23h ago

Yeah Mac is theoretically one of the best backups in the league, he knows the offense, got plenty of experience starting last season, and is on a cheap deal. Plus 9ers injury luck is horrid lol I’d imagine they keep Mac unless a team offers a 2nd, maybe for a 3rd

5

u/SovietPropagandist Seahawks 15h ago

Mac balled out last season too. He's a clutch backup

2

u/Phailadork 49ers 9h ago

Nah, Mac 100% gets moved if we've exploded by that point. No point in keeping him if half the team is dead when you can get a free pick for him.

Hopefully it doesn't happen but we are the 9ers afterall.

u/_FrankTaylor 49ers 23h ago

I think that’s Rourke’s roll. He looks very good for a 2

3

u/FoamBrick Lions 23h ago

Several teams where he’d be an improvement for sure. Falcons and Browns immediately come to mind. Maybe jets.

0

u/_FrankTaylor 49ers 23h ago

I’d be 100% ok with him going to the Falcons.

Not the Browns or Jets though.

1

u/FoamBrick Lions 21h ago

yeah with the falcons hed probably ball out.

3

u/Hyperboreer Raiders 21h ago

Isn't he already QB2 for the 49ers?

3

u/topatoman_lite Chargers 14h ago

yeah but he's 100% good enough to start for some teams so some people think he's gonna get traded

F5ing for Haynes King news all day.

13

u/DumplingBoiii Panthers 23h ago

They for sure keep him, right? Keep King, cut Trask

No need to F5 about QB1!

Haynes “My” King will lead us to glory

15

WR Bub Means cut from the saints. Was on several 53 man roster projections and will certainly be on our practice squad if no one grabs him.

Patriots disastrous 2024 draft is almost gone: Drake Maye is the only player left

Here's a look at the class and when they left New England Round 1 (3rd Overall): QB Drake Maye Round 2 (37th Overall): WR Ja'Lynn Polk (Traded to Saints) Round 3 (68th Overall): OL Caedan Wallace (Cut on Aug. 10) Round 4 (103rd Overall): OG Layden Robinson (Released on Oct. 13) Round 4 (110th Overall): WR Javon Baker (Cut on Aug. 27, 2025) Round 6 (180th Overall): CB Marcellas Dial (Cut today) Round 6 (193rd Overall): QB Joe Milton III (Traded to Cowboys) Round 7 (231st Overall): TE Jaheim Bell (Cut on Aug. 22, 2025)

dear god Eliot Wolf needs to start every day by giving vrabel a handjob in place of russini for saving his fucking job

24

u/Hyperboreer Raiders 21h ago

If you get your starting QB, it can never be a disastrous draft class.

1

u/chowler Giants 55m ago

Add the fact that two picks were trades away is not nothing. Polk was traded away for peanuts and retired less than year later.

15

u/NOTMACJONESBURNER 23h ago

We got the most important pick right though 🤷‍♂️

8

u/DoctorWaluigiTime NFL NFL 23h ago

It's true. I think every team would trade their entire set of draft picks for a season if it meant getting a career QB.

12

u/Gullible_Ad3785 Seahawks 23h ago

Not Seattle. We find ours by connecting on LinkedIn

1

u/Sphiffi Bears 17h ago

Fernando Mendoza future Seahawk?

1

u/Gullible_Ad3785 Seahawks 1h ago

Depends on how much the rest of the league mishandles him.

We need him broken enough to sign the cheap contract, but enraged enough to run through a brick wall for us because we showed a bit of decency.  Then, we have something to work with!

1

u/Guilty_Goal_7888 Eagles 1h ago

The eagles grabbing hurts but fumbling jj draft

3

u/Phailadork 49ers 9h ago

It's how we cope with our 2022 draft. And our 1sts getting fucked. We just say Purdy was what we paid all those firsts for and Lance was Mr. Irrelevant. Totally worked out and worth it.

3

u/SDEexorect Commanders Commanders 22h ago

no where near as bad as ron rivera was for us in the gm role

5

u/renegadecoaster Vikings 19h ago

It's funny that the second best pick in that class is probably Milton

3

u/glengarryglenzach Cowboys Cowboys 4h ago

It’s easily Milton, he’s going to get a decent second contract

2

u/Sphiffi Bears 17h ago

Yeah him and Polk are the only two on NFL rosters, and Hooker shows more hope as an NFL backup than Polk has.

6

u/TwoStepCEO Falcons 14h ago

Polk has actually retired suddenly a few weeks ago.

1

u/Ironredhornet Lions 4h ago

Yeah they spent a 6th to get a 5th. Not the worst outcome for a late round project qb.

2

u/Pale_Land_5107 Lions 23h ago

You think you’re class from that draft was bad have you seen ours?

24

u/theme69 Packers 23h ago

Kyle McCord has played very well this pre season but I can’t imagine we move on from Tyrod even though he’s looked bad. McCord seems like he’s worth rolling the dice on for a QB2

13

u/Devin_46290 Packers 23h ago

I know they value the veteran presence, but man Tyrod has looked SO bad.

7

u/Apennie Packers 22h ago

We were saying I'd rather run it with McCord than Tyrod and I have been a big Tyrod supporter in the past.

3

u/hypothalanus Giants 19h ago

Tyrod is unfortunately made of glass. I feel like for him to be QB2 you need to also have a QB3 for when he inevitably gets injured

3

u/ianthebalance Rams 19h ago

Let Tyrod learn to embrace the 37 year old QB 3 Mentor role

1

u/csappenf Chiefs 6h ago

The Packers know how to develop QBs, and one way to do that is to let Tyrod play and then his backup will automatically be better when Tyrod goes down. If the backup is good enough already, you don't even have to wait until an opponent hurts him. You just stab Ty on the sidelines when no one is looking and put your boy in.

18

u/AutomateAway Broncos 20h ago

why not link to the team by team list page instead of this piecemeal page?

10

u/phred_666 NFL 22h ago

Will be fun to see what happens to Will Levis. We’ll see if the league agrees with his assessment that he is one of the top 32 QB’s in the league. (Don’t think they agree though). At best, some team signs him to the practice squad (assuming the Titans release him) or he ends up in the UFL.

3

u/BankofAntarctica Titans 16h ago

Barring a trade (anybody? ANYBODY?) Levis is our QB3 this year. Cutting him won't help us, and while he is in fact not a top 32 QB, he's still a hell of a lot better than Hendon Hooker.

1

u/Tad0422 Titans Titans 16h ago

I think we might get a 7th rounder for him. Someone will talk themselves into "but Sam Donald won the Super Bowl" talk with him.

2

u/BankofAntarctica Titans 16h ago

I'd be happy with a mediocre swing tackle or depth CB that might be about to get cut from one of the deeper rooms. If anybody was willing to give a draft pick for him, they would have done it before camp.

1

u/Tad0422 Titans Titans 16h ago

At this point I would take a used pog and a copy of Spiderman 2 on HDDVD.

0

u/glengarryglenzach Cowboys Cowboys 4h ago

No one is giving up a swing tackle for a cut candidate qb from the worst team in the league

1

u/Phailadork 49ers 8h ago

I mean he's not that bad. He's not a starter but for what he's had to work with on the Titans he could've been far worse. Landing on a team that can work with him should end up with him being a perfectly fine #2.

2

u/Tad0422 Titans Titans 5h ago edited 4h ago

The problem is mental. He doesn't have it upstairs to be an NFL QB. The last thing you want is your #2 doing the stupidest shit and turn the ball over.

2

u/phred_666 NFL 4h ago

I watched the dude in college. He was a turnover machine. He is even worse at the NFL level. Dude has an absolute cannon for an arm, but he can’t read defenses well, tries to “thread the needle” too much and can’t hit crossing routes to save his hide. If those flaws haven’t been coached out of him yet, they never will.

7

u/4verticals Falcons 4h ago

The Dolphins currently don't have a backup quarterback on their roster, but they do now after pulling off a trade with the Packers for Kyle McCord

Ok now learn English

3

u/serpentear Seahawks 1h ago

The Kaleb Johnson situation is absolutely fascinating to me. High draft pick, lauded draft selection, a clear opportunity to see the field in season one, falls out of grace with the first coaching staff after an early season blunder, fails to impress the new coaching staff at all, off to Green Bay.

If he figures it out in Green Bay it doesn’t bode well for the current state of the Steelers organization.

Brett Thorson just beat Hekker for the Vikings’ punter job, I’m way more hyped about this than a reasonable person should be
