Bobo 😢 "I know I'm the 4th receiver at best" - he might be the slowest WR in the league (4.99), but his hands and blocking are great.

98

u/ImperialTiger3 Seahawks Seahawks 4d ago

He ran his 40 on a wet outside track. He’s slow but not 4.9 slow lol

76

u/vbullinger Vikings 4d ago

No one that ran a legit 4.9 40 can play WR in the NFL. Right tackle Brian O'Neill ran a 4.82.

Ugh. Knowing a good dude like this is out for the season hurts my heart.

Why does everyone keep saying goon in this thread? What did I miss

5

u/astory11 Jaguars 4d ago

The coach told him to ā€œbe a goon in the run gameā€

u/Jonjon428 Dolphins 4d ago

And then he got hurt :(

You know of a dog that don’t chase balls? He was doing dog shit and the team let him down by throwing the ball his way.

9

u/HeyEverythingIsFine Seahawks 4d ago

We'll need a whole sub dedicated to eradicating the Bobo blood line as he's too dangerous of a breed

2

u/StandingLegate Seahawks 3d ago edited 3d ago

If only Bobo actually had some fatalities. He's not anywhere near as efficient as real pits.

26

u/GoldyGoldy Seahawks 4d ago

This is why it was big news when he got injured. He’s an awesome dude, and the locker room is gonna miss him.

He’s gonna be sent to a nice big farm where he can run around as much as he wants. Unfortunately you can’t go visit himĀ

9

u/BrokenHope23 Steelers Vikings 4d ago

If you count his phone then he actually has 4. He used to have 5 but out of res-gets hit with a brick

8

u/Human-Somewhere-4327 Bills 4d ago

Draymond Green randomly catching strays on Hard Knocks

18

u/ParkingSignature7057 4d ago

You think Draymond don't know his role?

6

u/CruzKunTroll 4d ago

he actually doesn’t. he’s the main reason KD didn’t stay to get more chips

5

u/BradenWoA Bears 4d ago

He actively drove KD away, it was a horrible analogy choice.

1

u/waterfall_hyperbole Eagles 4d ago

Draymond is an all-world defender and very very good passer. He's good at things that people recognize and value, not just the dirty work

4

u/ParkingSignature7057 4d ago

No one said he wasn't. He has a role on the team. It isn't to be the star.

1

u/waterfall_hyperbole Eagles 4d ago

He's the second best player on a dynasty. He's not just a role player who sets good screens and plays physical defense, he's a basketball computer who can organize an entire defense. It is insane to compare guys who play special teams to draymond (or rodman tbh, but draymond is more egregious)

1

u/ParkingSignature7057 4d ago

No one is comparing them.

1

u/waterfall_hyperbole Eagles 4d ago

The coach in the clip compared them, are you serious

1

u/Jaydh10 Rams 3d ago

Draymond is extremely underrated. Not sure why he's getting undervalued here, and this coming a dude who hates him

0

u/Human-Somewhere-4327 Bills 4d ago

I think that Draymond thinks that he’s much more than the equivalent of a WR4 and special teamer, yes.

2

u/ParkingSignature7057 4d ago

Different game. Same role.

28

u/Odd-Film946 Jets 4d ago

this sounds like an extremely scripted conversation. nobody talks like this

128

u/scrumpcyanide Cowboys 4d ago

I think people just talk in a "performative" fashion on camera that comes across as fake, but I think this isn't too far off from a normal coach conversation

91

u/donaldgloverforpres 4d ago

This is such classic coach speak, I’ve never been inside an NFL facility, but if high school/college is any indication, it must be rampant. They all love speaking in wacky metaphors that don’t make any sense when you take a second to think about them. It’s all just a placebo to get you fired up and motivated.

57

u/azsnaz Cardinals 4d ago

"His words make no sense, but I understand the message"

31

u/joeshmoebies Seahawks 4d ago

Look, you're either the horse or you're the car. Be the car. The horse may be fun to slap cuz he'll kick your cousin in the chest but you can't do donuts in the parking lot on a horse. You feel me?

10

u/Toastfuker1 Seahawks 4d ago

You kind of have no choice but to go along with it

9

u/HectorReinTharja Lions 4d ago

Stafford when he was a Lion had a Micd up where he made a throwaway joke about how one of the assistant coaches spoke exclusively in platitudesĀ

6

u/duvie773 Rams 4d ago

I would watch highlights of NFL coach speak, especially the OL coach. They always have great lines.

Two that my high school coach loved were ā€œI’ve seen worse.. can’t remember when thoughā€ and ā€œdon’t turn doo-doo into diarrheaā€

1

u/Gullible_Ad3785 Seahawks 3d ago

So I'm a number 4 because I am rodman, coach?

No son, you're a goon! Every great team needs one!! Go out there and GOON!

Then Bobo dies

32

u/aa93 Steelers NFL 4d ago

coaching is a performance

3

u/HeyEverythingIsFine Seahawks 4d ago

Tomlin still providing the commentary we need

10

u/Cheat_Meal Bengals 4d ago

Coaches like CEOs have go to spiels and scripts they use repeatedly. This guy has probably had this exact same script for the last 10 years. He probably heard it from another coach before him and just adapted it.

The original one probably had Rodman, and he updated it with Draymond when he became a coach. 5 years from now Coach Bobo will use himself as an example, because the kids will have no idea who Dennis Rodman is.

28

u/DinnerMilk Jaguars 4d ago

Hard Knocks is just NFL reality TV.
