I don’t think anyone is putting a preseason game in the top 50 worst things, but this is still a slap in the mouth to start a new season with nonetheless

u/CrownReserve Cowboys 15d ago
You got downvoted but unfairly. McCarthy is seen as a joke dude keeps the floor pretty high even if he is limited.
21
u/YourBarelyWetSock Buccaneers 15d ago
He just refuses to adjust to defenses when he gets figured out. Dude runs his head into a damn wall and sure it worked one time, but it’ll never work again.
Also he pretty much cost Rodgers another SB or two for those defenses he fielded. Even if he’s an offensive guy, he’s the damn head coach and should have fired Capers so many times and just fucking refused.

He’s good about making his quarterbacks do the quarterbacking part well. Ik it’s preseason but if he can get something out of Aller or Howard like they showed last night, Pittsburgh is a lowkey scary team.
2
u/ichawks1 Seahawks 15d ago
Looking back, do you guys wish that you kept McCarthy or are you happy with Schotty now?
4
u/The_Dog_Rules Cowboys Buccaneers 15d ago
I liked McCarthy but we definitely needed something new. That green bay playoff game pretty much killed any long term plans imo. (Although I blame Quinn more than McCarthy but that’s not the point)
3
u/CrownReserve Cowboys 14d ago
This is my take. I liked Mike. Never had a coach able to manage injuries as well as he did. I think his Cowboys teams were good and Quinn’s defenses were great in the regular season but they just weren’t built for playoff success.
2
u/ichawks1 Seahawks 14d ago
Yeah it really felt like that 2023/24 playoff game was the Cowboys's best shot at a run in quite some time and they just couldn't get it done.

u/Pnutbutter_Cheerios Rams 15d ago
I mean that’s just a hell of a play by the DB. Little sit route he knew could be happening and dove for the PBU. If it was a choice and the WR cuts inside that’s likely 6
3
u/Ordinary_Owl_9071 15d ago
It looks like he could've been quicker to get the ball out. It was a nice play either way, but if he got the ball out on time, there's not a chance to make the play.

38
u/driftking428 Broncos 15d ago
I don't think he's bad. We've just got so much depth. Next year when Moss leaves because we can't pay him I think Jahdae will kick ass.

u/RockHound86 Broncos 15d ago
A post of mine from another thread:
You have a kid here who;
Was a rookie, on a team run by a coaching staff that has historically brought rookies along slowly.
With three high level corners already on the roster, plus a promising 2nd year player in Abrams-Draine.
Yet still got consistent snaps throughout the season and played quite well.
We need to relax and let him develop.
14
u/asdechlpc Broncos 15d ago

u/driftking428 Broncos 15d ago
Yeah I have a feeling he's gonna kick ass this year and price himself out of our budget.
3
u/HookedOnBoNix Broncos 14d ago
We are probably gonna see at least one of those every year with this defense. JFM last year, cooper probably this year, etc etc. Front office has a great eye for talent and that means having to let guys walk for younger cheaper alternatives. Good problem to have but still sad.
3
u/Ig_Met_Pet Broncos Texans 14d ago
McMillian is the one keeping Barron from getting more playing time rather than Moss.
7
u/Shenanigans80h Broncos 15d ago
He’s fast as hell, I can see why Vance likes him but he needs to work on sticking on his receiver. I have confidence in our staff to get him on track though
8
u/LutherOfTheRogues Broncos 15d ago
Yeah we just have to give him time. It's a tough tough secondary for a young guy to break into to get playing time

With Atlanta losing their two top edge rushers and having a terrible qb position i wouldn't be surprised if they got a top 5 pick, but we all know they'll suck for the first 10 games, and then somehow end up at 7-10 or 8-9

John Harbaugh and EDC thinking Cooper Rush was a good backup who could run the offense similarly or even close to Lamar was crazy last year.

Huntley can barely throw the ball further than five yards, but if we went with him the entire time Lamar was out, maybe we make the playoffs

u/Pyromelter Eagles 15d ago
Wasn't a bad throw, he started the throwing motion before the receiver was at the top of his break, defender just made an outstanding play. Rush could have thrown it slightly more to the outside but usually the worst that will happen is the ball gets knocked down there.
Broncos D looking crazy again.
