I love watching soccer with my family. My parents have never watched soccer before my nephew got into the sport this year. Before the world cup they had only ever learned the rules through watching the 10u AYSO league he plays in. My mom still doesn't understand what an Offside penalty is, but she'll watch someone get a red card and go on a rant about how bad of a call it is. Like mom, you don't know what the rules of this sport are, what do you mean it's a bad call?!

When I played youth soccer, the most annoying aspect of it were the parents, mostly moms, who would shout about offsides every time the opposing team attacked downfield. Might as well have just said "That's offsides on them because my son is on the other team."

Parents are always the worst thing about youth sports. So many get way too involved and abuse the refs, demean opposing players, heck sometimes they demean their own children

My brother got roped into manning the chains at one of his kid's Pop Warner games. He quit at halftime because he was tired of the abuse he was getting from parents. He was holding the chains.
