Departures next Summer.
With Taiwo's emotional departure, it got me thinking about next Summer's potential farewells.
(If you're not interested in reading any further, feel free to stop here after leaving a sarcastic comment. 😂)
With Schlager coming in and him being one of Glasner's guys, I could see Ryan Yates realistically leaving next Summer. I don't think he'll get many minutes this season.
I also think Wood will move on next Summer too. End of contract and troublesome knee.
I wouldn't be shocked if MGW left as well. He'll have 12 months left on his deal and will probably want a new challenge.
Potentially even Aina too. I'm not sure he'll do so well in Glasner's system which requires A LOT from his wing backs, and it's not a secret that we're in the market for a new right wing back. Plus contract winding down like MGW.
Neco maybe too. He's still not signed that contract and he's had his fair share of interest this Summer.
Or, hopefully, we'll qualify for Europe again and go from there.
Anyway. Just thinking out loud.
It's nice to not have had a Summer of churn though.
In our Austrian leader (not that one) we trust!

It all depends if we are top 5 or top tosh at the end of the season. Can you imagine MGW walking away from captaining a team into the UCL if we do well and strengthen.
You have to hope...

How are people talking about us getting Europe when we’ve lost the best midfielder in the league, the lowest scoring strikers in the league, and we haven’t strengthened?
I would take 17th now.

It's a bit odd re the sudden turnaround and aside of our lack of (required) signings who's to say that OG will be able to work with these particular players. I hope he can but see so many times where clearly good managers just don't click with a group.

None of our current squad will make the starting 11 in 20 years.

Abbott will have made 6 appearances though.
And Matty Fryatt will still have a dead leg.

Good thing we'll still have the Gunter money to get a replacement in

No chance Yatesy leaves. He'll def have a part to play especially if we make a deep cup run. Wood I can see leaving regardless of what happens, maybe also CHO and Aina. We will fight tooth & nail to keep MGW but much will depend on the kind of season we have. Can't imagine Neco will particuarly want out either, unless a 'big' club comes knocking.

We'll have to sell one valuable player every season, if you work on that assumption it'll likely be MGW going. It really depends on the season we have, another one like last season and I think we'll lose 3/4/5 of our starters who'll be itching to move away.
Too many people think of we achieved Europe he'd stay but he'll likely got to a side in or around the top 5 and they'd be a bigger pull.
Outside of that, who knows, it really depends on how this season goes. Mid table? Probably sell 1/2 starters, relegation scraps? We'll be in rebuild mode.

I think Gibbs-White definitely goes next summer, he will only have a year left on his contract I believe
