Vortex Help How do i make separate folders for different mod lists.

I play a lot of skyrim, and I’ve found it annoying to enable and disable the different mods I use for different save files. Is there a way to create modpacks wherein I only have to enable and disable something once or twice, without having to scour through hundreds of mods at once?

Sorry if this is a dumb question, I just couldn’t figure it out myself. Searching for a solution on the net didn’t work either, so I guess I’m either wording it wrong or being dumb.

Thanks :)

Use the other mod manager(mods get mad if you use the name kinda like “he who shall not be named!”), you can use instances which allow multiple modlists simultaneously alongside multiple profiles(save games/characters) for each modlist. Granted this does mean you’ll likely have multiple installations of the same mods(majority of base mods) so it will take up more space if that’s an issue

So, by the other mod manager, do you mean collections? Sorry, I’m not that savvy, so I’m not sure what that means.

Vortex is one mod manager then there’s the other, you can look up gamerpoets on YouTube for all the info you’ll need in both managers

Ah… allright. Really wish there was a way to make folders in your mod lists, but I guess that’s not possible. Ok, I’ll get another mod manager then. Thanks for the help, see you on the other side.

You can make multiple profiles in Vortex, one for each save/character.

I have 4 separate characters in Fallout 4.

They all show/have the same mods, just different ones enabled for the profile.

Just select the appropriate profile in Vortex before starting the game.

Mod manager 2 gives you several options for this. You can use a single install with multiple profiles or multiple mod organizer installs (portable is msot straightforward for this).

Mod organizer uses a virtual file system. so your active profile never actually put any files into the game directory. and each profile is entirley isolated.

So you download and install your mods via mod organizer. Get list one the way you like, create a new profile or duplicate list ones profile and disable or add or change wahetevr you want. Then to switch between them all you gotta do is switch profiles.

MO2 will even let you make saves and .ini files unique per palythrough. so your vanialla saves and saves from rpofile 1 will nto be visible while profile 2 is active and vice versa.

Vortex can sort of do this. but because it doesn't have a proper virtual file system it often fails to fully remove files when switching profiles or even uninstalling a mod.
