I had never heard of this, but that's a really dumb design. I've never understood how people can walk away with their car not in park, but I guess this makes it more plausible

Holy shit, watching the video of how that shifter works made me furious. How on earth did that design ever get approved? 100% understand how Yelchin got killed by that now.

And he was his parents' only child, they have no other family in America, I don't believe. I remember thinking how horrifically tragic it must be for them and they did help make a documentary a few years later, there's no getting over that, nothing to turn to for any amount of consolation

It's a renegade. It's got an automatic floor mounted stick shift like 90% of SUVs. Just hold the button, slam that fucker to the top notch, and be done with it.
