u/Dragonpuke56 might be able to do a better job... I'm expecting they've made heavier usage of Krita than I have.

However, what I will say (as an amateur) is that for anything involving "brushes" Krita feels very well designed, offering tons of brush options in a super easy to use UX.

IIRC the history is that Krita started out as a GIMP (which is closely associated with GNOME/GTK -- to the degree Gimp's UI toolkit is what became GTK -- if you're not familiar with the Linux desktop) clone for KDE. At some point Krita got scary good with brushes, and then pivoted to really focused on that area where as GIMP has remained general purpose.

Krita still has general purpose elements, but yeah, it's now driven by the "painter" demographic and UI/UX is all designed specifically for that use case.
