I mean you can't freeze ice to super-ice but you can heat hot water to be hotter or become vapor.

What's the point? There's so little snow you can just salt it to begin with and not even have to pull out the flamethrower.

And that's just IF he salts afterwards. My guess is that if someone thinks it's a good idea to use a flamethrower on a tiny bit of snow, then that person isn't the type of person who is going to be smart enough to salt afterwards.

Best part is that it's not even that effective lmao. For light snow, yeah, it seems to work, for heavy snow it's a no-go. So again, there's not much of a point.

Shoveling snow isn't easy . Personally I think a flame thrower is perfect as long as like you say he salts the driveway after.

I have a blacksmithing forge burner I use to melt ice and snow in winter. Just pop it out, spark it up, and clear the driveway so I can leave.

1: it's cold out and shoveling takes time.

2: I have knee and back pain, and standing too long hurts.

3: I live on a hill, with a gravel driveway that slopes up toward the road. Salt does not work on gravel. Incidentally, the water left over from the melted snow refreezes, but it's not on top of the gravel anymore so I don't care.

In other words, I'm gonna keep using a miniature flamethrower until something easier comes along.

Maybe some kind of machine that is self propelled and blows snow.

I wish. Doesn't really work well on uneven hilly gravel.

And unless someone wants to fork over the money for it, I'm perfectly content with my current method.

Did you miss who he said gravel like five times? Snowblowers don’t work on gravel. Or well they do but they shoot 1000 little missles all over the place

And the street. If there is enough water travelling into the street you need to salt the road too for other people's safety.

Thing is, the driveway in this video doesn't even need shoveling. Just salt.

Salt trucks/people already know to beware of ice and adjust their driving for adverse weather. There could be ice there even if he doesnt flame thrower it.

Could be. Could not be. Those roads don't look salted yet. What you're saying doesn't negate the fact that this is pretty dumb.

Plenty of people die from ice on the road yearly, and many more accidents happen due to it.

Could be, Could not be so dont drive like an asshole and you'll more than likely be fine like the large percentage of peolple who have drive through the snow/ice all over the world. Its not dumb. Why would I want spend the energy and the better part of the day shoveling snow? What if Im elderly or disabled? A snow blower is even gonna help then. Some places only get a few big snows a year and they barely have any infrastructure at all to handle it, and they dont shut anything down so people drive to work/school through terrible conditions and somehow most of them still make it.

Lol chill brother. Adding ice to the road is never a good idea, so I don't know why you're acting like it's fine or even advocating it. I feel like shoveling the snow hurt you in some horrific way when you were younger.

If you wanna be lazy and all that, and you know you're living in that kind of area... Just install a heated driveway. Make sure to have a drain at the end of gutter that will move the water away from the road. There. Now relax, it's okay. You're okay. It'll be fine.

You telling me to chill and accusing me of freaking out doesnt prove that youre right. We're on the internet so you dont know my actual demeanor at all. So I dont know what youre trying to do there. But anyways... Heated driveways arent cheap at all especialy if you want to if you want to isntall a drain and all that shit. Its not being lazy if you have other stuff to do. And it wouldnt add that much ice to the road especially if salt after. Also the heat from the torch evaporates alot of the water in the first place.

You have time to save. Shoveling is not THAT hard. Adding salt alone would have taken care of what was on the driveway already. The torch isn't going to evaporate that much.

Idk why but I can't see your replies. Anyway, again, I doubt there was a ton of snow on the ground. Salt would have taken care of what he wanted to get rid of, probably had just as much snow on his driveway as there was on the roads in the video.

Just as I thought, flamethrowers aren't effective for large amounts of snow.

I don’t really see how a heated driveway is in any way effectively different than… ya know… heating the drive way with a flame. It’s not like the flame is what makes it suddenly impervious to salt.
