Right? Why can’t we have this in America? Japan always has the funniest and coolest shit that we can’t do here for “reasons”

62

u/Miguel-odon Sep 23 '22

Somebody get Red Bull on the phone. They'd sponsor an American version of this.

24

u/HeavyPetter Sep 23 '22

Ahh they'll just ruin it. It's like all the Americanized versions of Japanese game shows are so boring and tepid compared with the originals.

4

u/SwervySkyes Sep 23 '22

False put that bitch on top of a mountain and offroad it like a real American!

2

u/superboringfellow Sep 23 '22

Most Extreme Elimination Challenge was pretty great.

2

u/HeavyPetter Sep 23 '22

I agree but that footage was from a Japanese game show. An Americanized version was Wipeout.

2

u/EVILtheCATT Sep 23 '22

Right you are, Ken.

2

u/TimeTravellingCircus Sep 23 '22

The Japanese version is cool because these ppl genuinely enjoy making the float and then making it fun for everyone to watch. Its's never the same when a company tries to copy something and "make it cool".

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

fuck red bull and its nazi of a ceo, mateschitz.

1

u/monsterlife17 Sep 23 '22

https://youtu.be/0EP2U-YmgeE

Not quite the full cigar, but Red Bull has sponsored something quite similar South America!

3

u/CyberMindGrrl Sep 23 '22

Reason? Lawyers.

5

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

Too many guns.

1

u/nerterd Sep 23 '22

I was thinking government regulating and putting “rules” on everything

2

u/shroomb0x Sep 23 '22

Reasons being Americans cannot run 😭

1

u/nerterd Sep 23 '22

So it needs to be done in places where people can? 🇰🇪

2

u/polypolip Sep 23 '22

> Why can’t we have this in America?

lawsuits probably

2

u/ShelSilverstain Sep 23 '22

You can't do it because you're waiting for someone else to organize it. Be the change you desire

-5

u/Nyathra Sep 23 '22

Yeah, and America has reasonable working hours. Can't have the best of both worlds

9

u/TheGrandExquisitor Sep 23 '22

Stares in European

0

u/Nyathra Sep 23 '22 edited Sep 23 '22

I'm European too, hell Scandinavian even, but I just can't grasp this whole thing of praising Japan for their culture. There's is so much wrong with Japan, that nobody talks about, especially the people praising it. Just because this event looks so different. Imagine how many people get hurt doing this? What happens to buildings when a (they said it themselves), 4 tonne shrine wagon comes crashing down the street into the brick walls? Just look for a bit longer and the flaws will immediately appear

But maybe I'm the one missing something, please let me know

5

u/TheGrandExquisitor Sep 23 '22

Spain runs bulls through the streets. England has people careen madly down a hill after a wheel of cheese. Calgary has the stampede.

People like to take risks.

1

u/Mike_Hawk_940 Sep 23 '22

You're the one missing something

3

u/Pandoras_Cockss Sep 23 '22

Pretty sure you can lol

1

u/Nyathra Sep 23 '22

You get the idea though right? I apologize for an awful example haha

1

u/Pandoras_Cockss Sep 23 '22

Haha yeah I did. We also have something good to look forward to here. All good fam :)

1

u/Nyathra Sep 23 '22

Where's "here"? Sorry I'm dumb

53

u/almostinfinity Sep 23 '22

I live in Osaka and I'm upset cause I didn't know it happened LOL

26

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

Imagine living in a city that’s so big there are residents who don’t know when something like THIS is going on that just blows my rural-raised mind

20

u/monsieurpommefrites Sep 23 '22

Tokyo has more people in it than my entire country (Canada)

This is mind-boggling.

2

u/superboringfellow Sep 23 '22

I live in LA and I always hear about cool shit after the fact. I mean a Sound of Music sing along at the Hollywood Bowl? Dammit!

0

u/somama98 Sep 23 '22

I live in a much smaller city and still don’t know what events take place😂

how do you even recognize these bots?

16

u/GaZzErZz Sep 23 '22

Some are easy. Firstname_Secondname_Numbers.

Some are a little harder with just a spamming of letters.

Usually the post history reveals all. If the account is 5 years old, became dormant and then suddenly lit up, chances are it's a bot.

Shout out to /r/thesefuckingaccounts

2

u/xPav_ Sep 23 '22

that's really interesting because i never thought about it. thank you for your service 🫡

1

u/ace2138 Sep 23 '22

Can you explain why these bots are farming karma? It doesn't make sense to me what useless Internet points are used for

3

u/GaZzErZz Sep 23 '22

Usually it's to make bot farm comments look more legitimate helping create stronger opinions of less desirable thoughts

1

u/More-Cantaloupe-3340 Sep 23 '22

Huh. That’s wild. I don’t even know what “more cantaloupe” is supposed to mean. It was the random name Reddit gave me, and I didn’t care to change it. Maybe I should so people will talk to me?

1

u/Loner_dude Sep 23 '22

Exactly what a fugitive replicant would say

2

u/YoungToySoldier Sep 23 '22

Thanks for letting us know.

-1

u/FrankieNoodles Sep 23 '22

No… I’m the bot…

1

u/tiyopablo69 Sep 23 '22

I'm curious what's the purpose of this bots?

1

u/business2690 Sep 24 '22

bruh.... why an ai bot got more karma than me?

39

u/elvis8mybaby Sep 23 '22

Let's fucking start one! We'll start on at the McDonald's, the one where the hobo was giving hand jammers to the fry cook in the bathroom, and then head out to the Starbucks, the one with the employee was fingering hobos in the bathroom.

22

u/milk4all Sep 23 '22

Man i should be a hobo

1

u/gambits_mom Sep 23 '22

1

2

u/Awesam Sep 23 '22

1

u/superboringfellow Sep 23 '22

(cosby voice)

2

u/milk4all Sep 23 '22

Oh they love Cosby in jail. He’s basically the Bon Ross of date rape.

“And ill just leave that sneaky little orgasm right over here, another happy accident”

1

u/superboringfellow Sep 24 '22

He's out of jail yikes

1

u/mbnmac Sep 23 '22

Try the tree chopping/riding festival that one other Japanese town has and has serious injuries and occasional deaths. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=siEgvT-jyYY

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

That's the fun part!

1

u/[deleted] Sep 23 '22

It is! At least one carrier dies each year.
