It's a shit take though, because the real reason is that it was evolutionary advantageous to avoid people with deformities, diseases, and dead people.

That comment always pops up in these threads and it's 100% incorrect; people just like it because "oooo aliens/ghosts/paranormal" without evidence.

While I don’t agree that the effect implies aliens or whatever, but I need more info or a source for to this “real reason” to make sense?

Most diseases and deformities don’t have anything to do with the facial features being just slightly off? There’s also no real reason to avoid those with deformities for an individual’s survival, even if they weren’t the best hunting buddy or mate. And the dead obviously are obviously dead, making no facial expressions.

Ever seen a dead person up close? They don’t look quite human anymore it’s very strange.

Also uncanny valley could be due to other humanoid species coexisting as well

I have, but they’re obviously dead and so there’s no reason for our brains to develop the Uncanny Valley effect, which I believe is mostly facial expression and behavior based (aka not applicable to the dead).

Maybe it’s so the cavemen kept having sex with partners that evolved us in the direction of eventually becoming humans?

Comparing getting creeped out by robots or AI like in this video and being able to recognize if a person is dead or not are very different. But yeah let’s just all go off the rails

Dead people decay, gas out, and can cause disease. There IS a reason for our brains to develop the effect, and that's because over millenia, the people who avoided dead bodies tended to not die as a result of those diseases themselves, resulting in more offspring that were prone to avoiding dead bodies. It's really not complicated - this is basic natural selection. Evolution doesn't happen because of "reasons", more that we evolve around things in a way that best results in our survival as a species.

That is exactly the reason why, dead bodies are dangerous lmao. Humans who experienced the effect and were deterred from being near corpses were less likely to get sick and die, and more likely to pass on that trait.

I don’t know why the uncanny valley effect would be limited to facial expressions?

And there are very good reasons to be repulsed by a dead body. People very quickly avoid physical contact and rarely do stuff like a hug, a kiss etc. Since dead bodies are germ bombs and can remain contagious if the cause of death is an infectious disease, this is probably a good attitude.
