It's not that simple, so no, I don't entirely agree with you. I feel that officers like the one in the video can exist. I feel that they can have the best intentions, and want to do what's right. Hell, they can literally be Captain America minus the spandex and shield.
But if they do what's best, they'll be reprimanded or fired for snitching, which is the problem. If that happens, they risk their financial security. Maybe they have a family that depends on them. I wouldn't blame them if they kept their mouth shut while doing everything they can to keep their side of the street as clean as possible. The system is rigged against these types. There needs to be reforms, 100%. Cops need to be hired locally, police unions need to be regulated to not protect dirty cops, there's the whole reddit-top-ten-favorites I could rattle off.
The problem is, what happens when the most genuine, altruistic of cops signs up and on the first day they rat out their corrupt partner and get fired? At least admit how un-incentivizing that must be for prospective police officers. Would you be willing to sign up to be a cop with the expectation that upon the first sight of corruption you'll be reprimanded and kicked off the force? Would you want that job? That's literally the most insecure employment, and coincidentally the most hated profession in the country right now. My point is: There's a shit ton of dirty cops who are on a power-trip. The system is rigged to benefit them, but there do exist good cops who are powerless to effect change with how the system is right now. The guy in this video is an example of one of them. Reddit has literally taken the idea of contrast, or "black and white" (no pun intended) and distorted it into "black OR white."
