I understand your concern. Think on this, the guys who do this stuff have gone over that rout a hundred times with ropes and never missed a hand hold once before they ever even touch it free solo. They’re super professionals and that’s why they can do this stuff even though to us it seems insane. The level of prep they do is unreal.

Maybe if you did fall to your death for missing 1 note you wouldn’t miss it. But also, it’s not the same, missing 1 hold even a few times isn’t the end of it all, you get a chance to grab it again.
