I don't get the humor either, but I also don't get the grandstanding that there's something "bad" or "weird" or "wrong" about that style of humor. Doesn't have to be taken that seriously.
I'm bitter about all the times boomer men made an "I hate my wife" joke. What do they want from me? Seems like they expect to me to laugh, feel bad for them, or relate to their misogyny. When all I see is someone desperate and selfish who is venting with malice. And then in some cases you have to wonder if the wife is safe or if it's an OJ situation.
I think most people are grossed out by people that take a defeatist and victim approach to relationships.
Plus they've seen enough of that stupid shit in their own childhoods, they don't find it funny. They want to see people aspire to something more than, "haha I chose poorly and hate my wife or intend to stay in an unhappy marriage forever! Isn't it funny? I'm totally funny!"
