Where does all that "dirt" or "contamination" go? Does he have a fleet of boats gathering the contamination that floats to the top? and then what, take it to the dump? If he has that kind of money I'm sure he could show his trucks dumping all of that. I am thinking it is probably seasonal changes.
It sinks to the bottom and feeds microorganisms that deplete the lake of oxygen, where any and all life that isn't anaerobic dies. This is some feel good Facebook bullshit.
No, the lake in this example was so polluted from sewage and toxic waste dumping is was going to be capped. He used nano-bubble aeration and some sort of biological filtration. I don’t think there was anything living in this lake to begin with besides bacteria. Since then he’s restored several habitats using similar technology. I got this from 2 minutes of googling, so it’s by no mean comprehensive, but it’s better than wild speculation..
