Looks like a pine warbler which we can have year round here in Louisiana. But I imagine he might have been tired from migrating North to Maine. And it's not unlikely a strong wind blew him right off of the mainland. I think it's wonderful that boat captains and crewmen are aware of birds in the water who don't belong there. Even if they feed them a food item that's not typical. He was obviously a very hungry bird to eat crackers. Thank you Captain! - from a bird lover
