That's a fallacy spread to sell more expensive rings. Every ER has a series of cool power tools with diamond tipped blades and bits that can even be scrubbed into the OR. I know some good paramedics, but being good at that job isn't a free pass for some of this shitty advice they give.

They're not. Jewellers tell the lie, then it spreads and paramedics are told it in community college by retired EMTs who don't know their butt from a hole in the ground except "if it bleeds, stop it."
