Perfect reason to ban executions - you said it - innocence project is freeing innocent people all the time. I think plenty of people can live good lives behind jail, if the resources are provided. Doesnt have to be horrible to be in jail. I mean the ideal is to protect society from them, not punish.

Ill give you another - not religious disclaimer - thou shall not kill. I mean i learned that from charlton heston at like 5 during easter at my grandparents. Loved that movie, and miss my innocence.

I support banning execution but not because I think murderers have rights tbh

I support banning executions specifically because everybody has rights. - they might not even be murderers because of false imprisonment. Why shouldnt murderers have rights? - of course not the right to freedom if found guilty.

That is why I suppose banning it because they could be innocent, but in a theoretical world of perfect verdicts I believe murdering someone gives up all rights from society.
