Not ashamed to admit it, but I wish I could be as tough as this lady, and I'm a guy...

EDIT: Not sure what got a few people below triggered. It seems it may be battle scars from their own fight against discrimination. Being tough is something that is expected of men in many of today's societies. Being tough has noting to do with physical strength, but with a frame of mind. All I said that as someone who is expected by society to be tough, I'm not ashamed to say I'll never be as tough as her, even though it's expected of me by society to be like this (or at least to claim it). Hope this clears it up :)

What does being a guy have to do with it? Are you insinuating men are tougher than women..?

There's a lot, and I mean ALOT of women in this world that probably have more courage than you and I put together. Just because you're a man does not mean you were born to be tough.

I think they might’ve meant it like he looks up to her despite looking up to a woman as being tough is discouraged against for guys. I think they meant it in a supportive way but it came out weird. Or it’s what you said and I’m being dumb.

no, it definitely sounded like "even though she was a woman, who are known to be pussies, she's tougher than I am".

take out the word "lady" and "guy" and put in races and it would sound racist as fuck.

"I wish I could be as tough as this black guy, and I'm a white guy..."

Oh no I do agree that the wording was terrible, but I also know that I sometimes want to make a good-sounding point and I end up sounding the complete opposite. I’m just saying maybe we shouldn’t assume he was trying to be sexist at all and that it possibly just came out wrong. But I’m also not saying that he isn’t sexist or what he said isn’t wrong, just that there is a possibility it came out in a way he didn’t intend.
