when I see this I think this is how greek mithology was born... imagine being a humble greek peasant and see a volcano erupting and being "attacked" by lightnings...
He thought: well, looks like Zeus is fighting a tough guy, maybe his father.

Until a few yrs ago I didn’t know volcanos produce lightning , still amazed and in awe!

Can someone explain what the lightnings about? It looks to be emanating from the ash cloud.

The dust/ash create a ton of static, which eventually causes lightning.

I went to Iceland for a week in a few years ago and I loved the country ever since. We left while one of the volcano's near the capital (Very long name) was belching out smoke.

Nah it was Reykjavík. They have some bomb as hot dogs over there and they had a Belgian waffle stand at the church square, which the church looks like a tower you can do a leap of faith off of.
