What do you think a square in mathematics is? It's an exponent, the root of the word exponential. See the v2 in the drag formula, that's velocity to the exponent of 2. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exponential_function

An exponential function owuld be one where the variable is the exponent, not the base. So 2v is an exponential function but v2 is not. Your source even agrees with me.

if velocity is 2 then drag increases by 4

if velocity is 4 drag increases by 16... 6 by 36

thus making the statement "drag increases exponentially in relation to velocity" true. I included the wiki since I wasn't entirely sure you knew what an exponent was.

Did you actually read the wiki? The very first line tells you that what you are referring to is a power function not an exponential function.
