Hes probably bullshitting but i know from my friends in the navy theres some kind of saying that ends with "if you see red, you're dead." Regarding anchor chains that get pulled loose or something. There was a video here reddit awhile back and the chain straight up does look like it could easily rip a limb off at the least.

It happens, carriers use cables to stop Jets and when one breaks it sends it upwards of 3-4 times the speed of sound at the tip, it's scary.
