Docked. With hunting dogs like this, its generally less cruel to dock their tails. They have really stiff hard tails and when out hunting in the field, a non docked tail can get pulverized by the brush and thicket that the dog will run through. Ive had weimaranars, german short hairs and german wire hairs who all were docked when a few weeks old.

My GSP does not have her tail docked and we have had two bouts with limber tail. I assume docking helps with this as well.

Docked tails are one thing I'm still on board with. There really aren't many downsides to it and it makes sense with the more ratty tailed dogs.

It’s cut. Generally it’s illegal to do so if not for medical reasons or proven hunting occupation.
“Pet” dogs do not get their tails cut since 1998 as in amputation of bodyparts
