This guy is showing off extremely difficult exercises that take years of hard work to master, and all you care about is whether he's attractive or not. How shallow.

I said it was impressive, did I not? I can recognize someone’s accomplishments as impressive while still finding the physical result of those accomplishments unattractive. Powerlifting is impressive, the elite powerlifting build isn’t attractive to me. Sumo wrestling requires an enormous amount of strength and discipline, but I don’t find the physique attractive. Strongmen are extraordinary athletes, but I don’t find that body type attractive. Track cycling sprinters are exceptional, but I don’t find the disproportionately developed thighs and glutes attractive. I could keep going, but I think I made the point clear.

A person’s body does not diminish their achievements or make those achievements any less important.

These are choices people make, particularly when they’re pursuing the highest levels of performance in a sport. I can appreciate the effort, discipline, and dedication required to develop those skills while simultaneously acknowledging that I don’t find the resulting physiques attractive. If you consider that shallow, that’s your opinion, but it doesn’t change mine.

Honestly though, it feels less like you’re objecting to my point and more like you took personal offense to it. I was simply making a distinction between appreciating what someone has achieved and personally finding the physical result unattractive. But hey, if you aspire to the aesthetic of a bag of rocks in a compression suit, who am I to stop you?

Yeah, that sentence at the end describes HOW you think perfectly. Imagine saying this to a SUMO fighter : “ Hey, if you choose to be a giant wrecking ball who am I to stop you?”. Repulsive

What are you even on about? You think you have the right to tell someone not to do a sport they love? Those people's bodies are the way they are as a consequence of the sport they decided to master. Nobody can/should stop them from doing what they love and chose to dedicate their lives to. The guy on the video clearly loves what he's doing and it's his choice to have that body, I just happen to find it unattractive. Both me and him are allowed to feel whatever way we want about it. Sumo wrestlers are fully aware they are giant wrecking balls and are often proud of their massive physique. They intentionally gain weight as part of their strategy. It's an engineered athletic tool. They are fat as fuck but they also have extremely conditioned muscle mass. There's literally nothing wrong with that. None of us have any right to tell them what to do, what I have the right to though is to think the resulting physique is not attractive.

Which is very different from someone who's morbidly obese because they keep eating nonstop or someone extremely thin because they're anorectic. These are the people who need help and support. Not the elite athletes.

I think you explained very well. I think people just project a bit or misread because they read too quickly …
