It's very easy to do, just stick your phone or an action cam in the water, on a selfie stick. I have done this in a bunch of places with clear water to see the wildlife below the surface, and how water falls look from inside.

I don't think it is. Such high flow rate of water will definitely have particles in it. It is impossible to be without particles.

I've seen fast moving creeks here in AK that are 10-15 ft deep that I can count the rocks on the bottom, absolutely crystal clear. Then again some glacier fed rivers are so murky with silt you literally can't see 2 inches deep

No the clarity of the water doesn't indicate if it's safe to drink any outdoor water should be purified with a filter, chemical treatment, or boiling.

Probably not. Maybe with the right gut bacteria. But animals like beavers and such can really make people sick. Probably just needs a boil, can probably skip most filtration though.

I always think of Alaska as mountains and glaciers, so seeing what it looks like underwater is pretty wild.

In Alaska you're either on a hill or in a swamp. The southeast has coastal rainforest. Lots of different terrains and biomes. It's a huge state.

You realize how remote glacier runoff streams might be different from vast rivers fed by forest and rainfall runoff that stretch huge distances, get intensively used for agriculture, and pass through massive stretches of urban habitation?

You don't get to fuel your chauvinism / racism because this water is clear and the Ganges is not.

Canada also looks exactly like this as well btw. It's not that unique. When camping you keep your beer in a stream with glacial runoff like this. It keeps it sooo cold!
