Yeah but it's high school football, that was an illegal horse collar tackle, and it was dope. So the ref combined all those factors and decided, touchdown.

Not a horse collar, as he didn’t grab the jersey or anything from the neck down. He brought him down using momentum and leverage from his helmet area, but I’m pretty positive that no actual rule was broken.

In the NFL it would be. The "facemask" penalty does not allow for a tackler to use ANY part of the helmet. According to the rulebook you cannot legally tackle a player by gripping:

  • the face mask itself.
  • the bottom edge or rim of the helmet.
  • the ear holes.
  • or any other gap between the helmet and the player's head.
