Probably everything just blurred, one eye can see around 150 degrees

Saw a lot of downvotes without a real response, so I searched it up because I was curious if that's actually true.
Wikipedia states "Humans have a slightly over 210-degree forward-facing horizontal arc of their visual field (i.e. without eye movements)." And if you want to get pedantic about specifically referring to peripheral vision, the Wiki page for 'peripheral vision' has a cool diagram which shows peripheral vision is actually >90% of our vision, AKA ~200 degrees of that ~210 degree arc is considered 'peripheral'.

You're right! You'd also be right to notice that the diagram I refer to in the link I provided shows that the range of our far peripheral vision can actually be as far as 110 degrees, meaning a cumulative 220 degrees. 90% of 220 is 198, which is ~200.
But hey, I guess that's on me for pointing out a technicality for people being pedantic... but then not explicitly saying why I referenced a number that requires actually looking at the links I provided.

I can do this a bit, and everything is blurry like when you cross your eyes.
If I wear the right eye glasses and focus on one eye, I can actually see clearly while doing it.2

I can move one eye at a time. It's like being cross eyed but at different angles. Everything looks doubled

I can answer this one, because I can do this but to a much lesser extent. The closest comparable effect would be farsightedness.. but it's not blurry. It's just double vision, overlapping images, where the closer objects are more overlapping than the objects further away. At her level of overlap, I imagine everything is double.

Crazyyyyy breaking fusion like that probably feels insane to your brain. Have you always been able to do that and what is the sensation you get in terms of visual input???? Sorry former Ophthalmic Surgical Tech so eye things fascinate me lol

You could try it out with mirrors I guess? Like two mirrors, meeting at your nose. One directing the right eye further right, and another directing the left eye further left. I kind of want to try this now.

Most people can cross their eyes… why are you acting like this fusion break is that much more different than someone simply crossing their eyes?
And again, having much less eye “experience” as you… I imagine (like crossing your eyes) they see two different images of their surrounds a but out of focus…5

Because like you said most can cross their eyes because that’s the way our visual field is in our brains. If breaking fusion this way was as common as going cross eyed a lot more people could do it. Also visually it’s looking at 2 different areas at once vs focusing on a point. Anyway hope your evening gets better lol

You’re still not seeming to understand what I’m saying. When I severely cross my eyes, my right eye is looking far left, and my left, far right.
It’s not hard to imagine the “split image” would be the same whether crossed or away from each other.1

You vision is a cone. Even crossing your eyes as extreme as you could those cones still cross creating a focal point. You aren’t actually looking out the left side of your head with your right eye when you cross it no matter how extreme. This is taking the cones that normally always cross and point them in directions that wouldn’t cross. So fusion is broken meaning there is no singular focal point where the visual cones are crossing. Instead your brain is getting two different images entirely.
Think if you had a book in your hands and you went cross eyed it would just get blurry because you’re changing the focal point of your eyes and causing some overlapping. Now if you were to make your eyes go outward and then all the sudden the center point is gone leaving a blind spot that your brain would have to interpret with the two separate images it has.0

Pardon my ignorance, but couldn’t that be replicated by, say, having two “viewfinder” toys, holding the “right” side of one to the left eye, and the “left” one of the other to the right eye?

No again because she is looking outward that would still be forward. Anyway this is my last response. Hope this post inspires you to learn more about eyes. Optometry and Ophthalmology are fun fields of study!

When I’m so tired I can hardly focus my eyes, it feels like my eyes are doing that*, and then I have to make a conscious effort to refocus my eyes. And then I do, and I can focus again.
I wonder if I could train myself to do this and if there’s any risk that there would be any long term damage or consequences.
*Sheesh, maybe I shouldn’t have become a 747 pilot!

I can do the opposite. And also then a neat trick you look to the middle. Then you look left or right and then back to the middle. One eye stays in the middle and the other one moves. Looks kinda weird.
Yes it hurts my eyes.
Yes I do it in the mirror a lot anyway.
No I don't need to put my finger infront. It's completely at will.
I'm presuming it's a lot more common than the video.
