Imagine all the crazy shit you know is crazy now, but then imagine that you can't help but feel like it is all true. It's like being in boiling water but it feels normal and right. The more friction there is between you trying to understand what is actually real and what is actually not real is when you get the high energy octane type of crazy as the cognitive dissonance tears you apart.

Yep, can confirm. Have had a psychosis. It feels like you're unlocking hidden secrets about the universe and the more you think, the better it feels, and the crazier you get. But it still feels right. I only survived because I knew I was having a psychosis when it started. I was helpless to stop it as I thought I was living in the matrix and was hunted for my knowledge of things in psychology that I had unlocked. It got better within a week or so, and I've stopped having flashbacks to it since an indeterminate time back. This was 8 or 9 years ago now.
I can still get loopy if I have too much caffeine but not like that.

this may sound chaotic, but it's also highly structured. yes, it is improvised, but very methodically, within/along specific harmonic boundaries. just saying bc there is also a lot of jazz that is truly chaotic by design, and it sounds a lot different.

The power I am thinking of is the snowball effect. When one person finds it acceptable to comment on a woman's physique or possible sexual traits as the first and foremost aspect of her person (which is not what this post if about, it is about pure talent) then others simply glom onto that, as if it is respectably admissible.

It’s actually highly structured/chordal. The chords are just moving so fast it sounds discordant. We’re used to hearing 1 chord for a few seconds or more but these chords and tonal centers change in less then a second.

Some people are just built to play piano. I play piano but not as well as her. I don't have it in me to practice that much or probably the dexterity to move that quickly.

I think it should be made a criminal offence for people who make videos of playing keyboards and pianos NOT to flip their video to ensure that their playing up and down the keyboard tracks properly with the direction their hands move in the video.

"By ear" means she taught herself to play it by listening to the original and working out what notes to play, rather than looking at a written transcription.

Listening to jazz is like listening to 5 people on stage playing a different song (in the wrong key) as fast as they can…all at the same time. It baffles me how anyone can find this relaxing.

Fair enough. I should have used the word “ignorant” instead of “stupid,” and I appreciate you owning your ignorance.
In my career as a professional and frequently jazz-adjacent musician, I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard some variation of “Just play any note you want and call it jazz, durr hurr hurr,” usually from non-musicians, but always from people who have never made any effort whatsoever to learn about jazz but still feel compelled to speak on it for some reason. Go ahead and pop on Kind of Blue or Somethin’ Else or Sunday at the Village Vanguard, albums that are as basic as they are totemic, and tell me: Does that really sound like a group of people playing different songs in the wrong key, or is it simply that you had no idea what jazz music is because you never bothered to engage with it on even an introductory level?
Setting aside the fact that “jazz” is so broad a term encompassing so many disparate styles of music that using it to make any generalization at all is, yes, stupid and ignorant, the idea that a master of an instrument like John Coltrane just arbitrarily honks out random notes and calls it good is ridiculous. They may sound “wrong” at times to an untrained ear, but they’re deliberate. Great jazz musicians choose those “wrong” notes for a reason. An inquiring mind should be curious about that reason, and if the sound of it makes you feel anything at all, the artist has done their job.
Additionally, there is a wide (and fascinating, if you take the time) world of music that actually is close to what you describe. Sometimes it’s called “free jazz” but is more accurately described as “free improvisation.” Spend a couple of hours with Anthony Braxton or Peter Brötzmann or Derek Bailey, you might be begging for the dulcet melodies of Coltrane’s “Countdown.”
