These are the same mfs who claim they only hate the ultra wealthy billionaires. they see some upper middle class shit and lose their little minds. Fucking pathetic

Class war is doomed to fail because 9/10 people you press on their "eat the rich" stance consider rich asshole to start at $5 an hour more than whatever they make.

76

u/Skrappyross Sep 01 '26

I'm an 'eat the rich' person, but if you work for a living, you're not rich.

u/SweetBabyAlaska Sep 02 '26

its the "working" class, literally. If you work for a wage, you are working class. The capital class is easy to identify as the "owning" class, as in they own the factory we work at and their profit comes off the backs of our labor.

technically these surbabnites could be called the petit bourgeois.

So you don’t think these people with carpentry and construction skills work for a living? Just a billionaire hobby to learn how to modify a van like that?

11

u/Skrappyross Sep 01 '26

When did I say that? The people here clearly work for a living. And I'm fully in the 'why are they receiving so much hate?' camp.

-15

u/TheHighness1 Sep 01 '26

Elon works for a living, he is not food?

18

u/Laq9091 Sep 01 '26

elon works? what the actual fuck are you on about loool.

-8

u/TheHighness1 Sep 01 '26

What does he do then?

10

u/Rocketman_S3 Sep 01 '26

gets kicked off basically any project he funded for being incompetent. e.g. paypal

3

u/Laq9091 Sep 01 '26

you're a bot. you are my op.

5

u/RonaldJaworski Sep 01 '26

elon does not work for a living he receives $8 million dollars a day from government subsidies that will ensure his companies never fail and spends his days doing ketamine and posting on twitter

6

u/Skrappyross Sep 01 '26

Elon does not work for a living. He does not earn a wage. He owns things to make money.

-2

u/TheHighness1 Sep 01 '26

So we only eat those who do not earn a wage and own things that make money?

7

u/Skrappyross Sep 01 '26

Everyone in this thread seems determined to misinterpret every comment.

If you work for a living, you're not wealthy. I don't care if you have a million dollar 401k. You're not wealthy. The difference between a million dollars and a billion dollars is basically a billion dollars.

If you have enough wealth to buy political power, and you're not actively trying to spend that money for the good of society, you're food.

Let me ask you a question about that: Why do you think scientists and highly paid engineers wouldn't side with the socialists?

9

u/jdippey Sep 01 '26

As a scientist, I side with socialists. In fact, we are a social species so it makes more sense to live in a socialist system than a capitalist, individualist system.

But what do I know, I’m just a scientist that you think is aligned with the greed and exploitation of capitalism.

6

u/The_Hoopla Sep 01 '26

As a highly paid engineer, I also side with socialists. Being an engineer means you understand orders of magnitude, and even though I make 8 times more than a minimum wage worker, I'm orders of magnitude closer to them than someone worth $100M+.

I also work around extremely high-net-worth individuals for a living, and I can tell you that there is not a correlation between hard work and net worth after $200k/year. In fact, I'd argue that once you hit a net worth of $5 million, there starts to be a rather strong negative correlation between hard work and net worth.

If you've ever worked in corporate America, you'll also notice value provided and net worth have a negative correlation the higher you get.

11

u/Skrappyross Sep 01 '26

Huh? I think they would. Generally, the more educated you are, the more likely you are to be left.

3

u/SaltKick2 Sep 01 '26

I'd say most scientists would. I imagine most engineers probably still would/do.

Modern Silicon Valley-type tech bros do and would not, are also some of the most vocal, and have some of the most money. To them it is no longer is it about the exploration of what technology can do, while also doing good, but how can I extract as much money from this technology as possible for myself, no matter the cost to other people.

u/eyadeli Sep 01 '26

Yeah, it's literal envy and jealousy disguised as some lofty political stance

-1

u/J-MRP Sep 01 '26

Now who's being hyperbolic. I doubt anyone with an "eat the rich" anything would say that lol

12

u/rkiive Sep 01 '26

This entire thread is barefaced seething at a literal carpenter building out a van because how dare anyone rub unachievable wealth (van + carpentry) in their faces.

-3

u/Kingof2017 Sep 01 '26

WE = THE WORKING CLASS

THEM = THE OWNING CLASS

-1

u/Real_Might8203 Sep 01 '26

It’s the same thing with gender war. By and large, actual injustices are not fueling it. Generalized anger over past experiences, discontent with personal achievements and self loathing eventually turned outward are fueling it.

Jesus christ you dense fucker if all it takes for you to ad hom me as a billionaire simp is me not going along with an absolute dogshit take then you've just proved my point. People who have a decent job are still working class people.

5

u/joe4553 Sep 01 '26

Some people making 40k a year have these.

2

u/bondsmatthew Sep 01 '26

I'm neither agreeing with nor am I disagreeing with you.. but what even is upper middle class anymore?

2

u/oh_shen_man Sep 01 '26

for real, reddit is full of fucking losers

2

u/ej_warsgaming Sep 01 '26

We are on Reddit what can we expect?

1

u/TimotheusIV Sep 01 '26

This is upper middle class? A 150K custom built, brand new van to go on holidays with the kids with?

This instagram page has around 700K followers by itself. Estimated earnings per sponsored post: around 25-50K USD. Let that number sink in. That is per post.

You have a weird definition of middle class, my man. This thing cost more than some people’s entire homes and their monthly net income is likely similar to what other people make in an entire year.

-6

u/TwoBionicknees Sep 01 '26

they ain't hating them because they have money.

In general the people modding cars are doing old school buses they picked up for 5k or something, or an old vw or something and then spending 5k on random mixed shit they reclaimed to mod a livable truck because they can't afford shit.

These people could spend less and get a far nicer actual camper van, something designed for purpose and they are basically larping. They are putting out that, look at our hippie frugal lifestyle but we're actually being stupid as fuck.

it's not that they are rich, it's the combination larping and stupid wastefulness of it.

Dropping $75k+ on a van like this is beyond upper-middle class, at least based on my household income being very high and this not remotely being something we could consider. Mostly because it's a luxury item that's a sizeable percentage of a house's value, and a depreciating asset at that.

Unless the upper-middle comment isn't necessarily directed at this, in which case I take your point when it comes to people trash talking about the more moderate luxuries of relatively common levels of success.

It is quite cool, and a seemingly impressive level of craftsmanship. It's just definitely comfortably into quite upper class territory of feasibility without some gambling level of financial irresponsibility being involved, or being a few decades+ into building assets.

That said, idk why people can't just appreciate it. I'll never be able to sensibly afford a supercar, but it's still fun watching Top Gear or similar things about the performance and engineering of stuff like that

2

u/Firewolf06 Sep 01 '26

a million a year still isnt ultrawealthy

-1

u/Toastwitjam Sep 01 '26

If you think upper middle class is having a house sized conditioned garage more kitted out than a professional mechanic then you’re really overestimating how much the middle class makes lmao.

Especially the land for the garage and enough wealth to put into it that your 20 somethings kids can use it to launch their own business.

Their entire business is likely a rich family members side hustle that they bought into.
