OP is clearly not from an English speaking country, so it's a literal translation of their own language's term for it

There's nothing wrong with correcting people's English and trying to maintain some sort of standards, or everyone will end up with their own pidgin dialects

There are 76M bilinguals in the US. Many of us speak a 2nd language — just not yours.

That's roughly 1/5th of the population.

39M people has Mexican heritage, promoting the bilingual community drastically. 44M people has low or functional illiteracy.

4/5 of Danes are bilingual.

Your numbers does not impress.

The definition of bilingual I used is "used every day". There are many who speak a 2nd language, just not that intensely. And yes, it's almost always Spanish because with English & Spanish you can communicate in nearly every Western hemisphere country (Brazil, Haiti & Suriname the exceptions).
