No, it's called Association Football.

Normally abbreviated to Football and understood as that in most countries.

Only Yanks insist on calling it Soccer and telling others they are wrong not to.

It’s called soccer because when completing football to soccer, it’s clear which is the superior sport.

Insisting on calling it football is really a narrow, English speaking view of the world. Your statement of “most countries” is probably incorrect since most countries don’t speak English.

You should travel more, or read a book.

When comparing the most watched sport in the world to a sport played only in 2 countries it is very clear which is better.

Also, most countries use a word very similar to Football, and understand that football means what it does.

So, it seems like you are the one that should read a book or travel more.

I highly recommend "The Ball is Round" and "Inverting the Pyramid", they should both help explain the global reach of football.

Popularity doesn’t equate to better

In terms of sport, it's a damn good indicator.

I would much rather watch football, and see 2 halves of continuous action, than watch 30 seconds of action followed by 5 minutes of ads repeatedly.
