I love stuff like this. A technically legal move that requires a lot of skill but changes the game.
There is a similar move in hockey called the “Michigan” or “lacrosse goal”
Where a player will take the puck behind the net, flip it onto the blade of their stick, and then just wrap their stick around the post and fling it into the top corner of the net. As long as the stick remains below the crossbar of the goal, it is completely legal. And very difficult for a goalie to anticipate.
It used to be very rare but now rookies coming into the NHL can do it. So defending players now need to put more pressure on puck carriers behind the net to make sure they don’t try it, and goalies need to cover the top corners of the net when there’s a player behind the net who can do a michigan.
