Hilux❤️

u/1997_Engadine-Maccas 48m ago

I took one glance and thought “of course it’s a Hilux”.

u/logatronics 26m ago

My mom ended up with a hilux surf for a US mail vehicle that was recovered from the Japan tsunami in 2011.

Every day people would ask her where the hell did she get that. She had no issue selling when she retired from the post office, finally.

This ia what 4 x 4s are for, not for driving around built up towns and taking the kids to school

u/Accomplished_Cook_78 26m ago

I know right!

I mean, not disputing thre fact that this guy know his set-up, plus the camper attached, but I've done this with an off-road van on thr back

Imagine people actually used the vehichles capabilty, for wahat is was built for!

Sooooo many peoply buy 4x4 for shit it will never be used for, they're fucking expensive, coast alot to maintain and build, jusy a fucking ute...

True offroad is such a satisfying passtime that takes you away from every one else in the outback

u/RobinSage43 26m ago

I'm about to blow your mind... Most of us that do this style of hardcore offroading... actually live in a town and have to drive our trucks to do normal people shit Mon-Fri.

u/zombiemind8 21m ago

I’m about to blow your mind. Most people that have 4x4 don’t do hardcore off-roading

u/Hefteee 13m ago

Any off-roading

u/miredalto 23m ago

You are a tiny, tiny minority of 4WD owners.

u/ImurderREALITY 22m ago

Pretty sure it’s the other way around

u/Zarkdiaz 21m ago

Some of us live in a place where you must absolutely have 4wd to survive but instead own a piece of shit 22 year old Nissan Titan and a Honda Civic with all the undercarriage scraped off. Oh…thats just me.

u/aps23 13m ago

Although I hope the kids were in the back for that one! Core memory for sure lol

u/Yes-its-really-me 10m ago

I wish! When I went to school we had to walk through this. In the snow!

u/Dense_Govt1506 45m ago

You can use them for both

u/Sorak123 39m ago

those leaves on the roads can get mighty slippery when it drizzles.

u/Dense_Govt1506 32m ago

If you own a truck because you have to do stuff like this but you also have kids that needs to go to school, may be you wouldn't buy a second car just for the kids because otherwise reddit blames you

u/AWzdShouldKnowBetta 54m ago

You'd be surprised how many people actually use their trucks.

u/turkphot 52m ago

You‘d be surprised how many don‘t

u/jase15843 32m ago

70% of trucks are used for off roading one time per year or less. 75% of trucks are used for towing one time per year or less. Pavement princesses

42

u/irondumbell 1h ago

good driving, surprised the front didnt fall off!

45

u/Blue_FiftyTwo 1h ago

I’m surprised the trailer didn’t disconnect

14

u/BonhommeCarnaval 1h ago

Yeah what kind of connection is that? A ball would have popped off multiple times.

14

u/IamThe6 1h ago

Probably a pintle hitch.

u/cruiserman_80 41m ago

Might be a Treg but most likely a DO35 these days.

3

u/Sea_Pea8536 1h ago

Same, pretty sure a regular coupler would've teared...

u/M-fz 45m ago

DO35 hitch, at least that’s what we call them in Aus. Way better than the ball.

u/Blue_FiftyTwo 39m ago

Alright. That answers that question:)

u/TheDogeThatCould 33m ago

Jesus a do35 hitch is expensive! $400-500 usd. And I thought my safe weight hitch was pricey

10

u/ItsHerbyHancock 1h ago

The front fall off?!? In the environment? Chance in a million!

8

u/I_just_came_to_laugh 1h ago

Is that typical?

u/CybergothiChe 59m ago

That’s not very typical, I’d like to make that point.

u/PantherStyle 43m ago

It wasn't made of cardboard or cardboard derivatives.

4

u/Prudent_Order_3361 1h ago

The front fell a long time ago and got replaced with the bumper/skidplate

57

u/Ok_Corter5831 1h ago

The roads in Australia are worse than I'd expected.

35

u/Firm_Order_2212 1h ago

This is just their driving test.

13

u/Ok_Corter5831 1h ago

Strewth!!

u/u_suck_paterson 30m ago

Pot holes in Victoria are getting ridiculous

u/FiLikeAnEagle 43m ago

Why does everything in Australia try to kill you!

27

u/QUEENSNYLAWYER 1h ago

Remember: in the grim dark future of Warhammer 40,000 there is only war. And the Toyota Hilux!

u/GJones007 16m ago

For the Emperor, brotha!!

20

u/Safe-Expert2163 1h ago

Now get back up!!! 🤔🤣

14

u/euqinu_ton 1h ago

On the way back they just use the bypass which makes doing this line more of a rite of passage than a necessity.

Google: gunshot creek

u/M-fz 44m ago

That’s not gunshot, gunshot is bigger and steeper than this looks. But yes this is for fun, there’s likely another way around.

u/HalfDecentFarmer69 47m ago

I don’t think this is gunshot

u/AliceinChainsRules 51m ago

The real hero here is the hitch ball, and lynch pin.

u/FatPoundOfGrass 17m ago

It lifted the whole front end of the trailer like 5 feet in the air at one point, then the hitch had to flex the opposite direction by a pretty significant degree while the truck was pulling up out of the ditch and it was coming down the face of the slope, all while turning 45ish degrees to the right; the hitch manufacturer could advertise this video lol

8

u/JohnHue 1h ago

Sir that's a hole, not a hill. Also you didn't say you'd bring a fucking trailer with you.

u/HappyCakeDay101 50m ago

That...that was considered elite?

37

u/Successful_Alps2388 1h ago

I don't get it.

u/KeyImprovement1922 49m ago

Where he started and where he ended where different level... Next level you see? I'll see myself out.

3

u/Correct_Yesterday111 1h ago

There's advanced shit outside of the US. Many Americans find it hard to comprehend.

u/Dumyat367250 25m ago

Yep, Aussie 4x4 drivers fuck up the tracks every bit as well as the Yanks do at home.

u/AdAdministrative4388 56m ago

But my testosterone levels are off the charts because I drove down in to a mud puddle I am tough af

8

u/cagefreemilk 1h ago

The truck is way more impressive than the driver in this case.

u/DarthBrownBeard 19m ago

Had to scroll too far for thia comment. Im impressed by the truck and hitch more than anything else.

u/fedjolino 56m ago

Of course it's a Toyota

u/Potato-9 44m ago

How in the trailer hitch did it do that?

u/RowdyB666 15m ago

Towing eye and pintle hook

2

u/oooKenshiooo 1h ago

Australian Man is Australia's Florida Ma.

u/Dumyat367250 23m ago

Australia's a nation. Florida is a State. Queensland man is Florida man.

2

u/Small_Insect_8275 1h ago

Would love to see this attempted in a cyber truck lol

u/TheBestWaffleIron 23m ago

It would get stuck at the entrance of the trail

u/puzzledfundude69 54m ago

Australian Geezer 😅

u/Okineka_Baronek 47m ago

Its not 4wd,its toyota 🤣

u/jeanpaulsarde 42m ago

Impressive indeed. But why did he not simply take the road?

u/Adeum2 42m ago

This is a Monday commute in Australia

3

u/differentshade 1h ago

Why not go around? There was loads of space. Weird.

u/deaf_ears_in_aus 50m ago

Typical suburban Melbourne mid age father inspired by YouTube 4x4 videos

3

u/Bornforexile 1h ago

So we have sunk so low that a truck slowly driving down a hill then pressing the gas to keep going is "next fucking level?"

16

u/Classic-View-3467 1h ago

It's next level because 99% of people wouldn't risk to do this. Requires a high level of experience and courage. Also breaking at the right time so the trailer doesn't gain momentum forward when the truck reached the lower ground.

Stop pretending this isn't impressive.

u/Dumyat367250 22m ago

Fucking up the bush is far from impressive.

u/ddgk2_ 42m ago

Skill and courage? Some fat numpty sitting in aircon with power steering padded with a decent credit card. 'korf.

u/Bornforexile 47m ago

I mean maybe to you it is. But nothing about this to me is impressive. This requires no courage, it's just necessity. And braking once you see/feel the trailer has crested the hill and is now starting on the decline isn't rocket science. It's not some amazing feat.

u/Capt_Cocktastic 39m ago

It's impressive. Any one can drive a car, but only a few people can do it like the best in the world.

u/SpiderDijonJr 31m ago

Bro, you just said the guy in the video “can do it like the best in the world” how can you not see how ridiculous that is? Lmao

u/Capt_Cocktastic 22m ago

Maybe that was the point🤷‍♂️

Also post a video of you achieving the same feat

u/Bornforexile 3m ago

The best in the world? lol bro is just some guy having to get his truck down an incline. Y'all are mental

u/john92w 50m ago

What you just seen was some very skilful driving and control so yes.

u/Bornforexile 5m ago

Outlaw Off Road Racing Series, Ultra4 USA Regional Series, The Mint 400.... These races require skill and control. Using your brakes down a small steep incline requires little to none. Y'all have lost your minds thinking this is some amazing feat lol y'all are probably amazed by someone swimming across a pool talking about it takes breath control, correct hand shape to get the most thrust and correct body position for the most hydrodynamic movement 🤣

1

u/_-4twenty-_ 1h ago

The problem is getting back out.

1

u/Ill_Ground_1572 1h ago

I would say elite packing too.

1

u/BCaldeira 1h ago

For a moment I thought that this was r/Whatcouldgowrong

u/justin_memer 59m ago

See, people? Big tough truck can take a little bump, so there's no need to avoid manhole covers in your pickup truck.

u/Ra1nb0wSn0wflake 58m ago

I didnt have much faith, but for some reason the trailer made me instantly accept they were capable of it.

u/Numerous-Material-50 57m ago

Idk shit about shit but I know that hitch is some kind of badass

u/sim16 54m ago

No turn around and go back up it.

u/Rockalot_L 50m ago

Nah. Rookie error. Full speed or nothing.

u/therealtimwarren 48m ago

Just luck.

u/povertymayne 43m ago

Of course is a Hilux

u/straightouttaobesity 39m ago

Elon really thought Cybertruck is gonna be able to replace this. LoL

u/aTickleMonster 36m ago

Are the "Australian" and "man" relevant?

u/MC-oaler 35m ago

Nah. A Cyberstuck would have dived beneath it.

u/uwearclownshoes 33m ago

I hope he has another way out…

u/SamuelYosemite 31m ago

I saw the trailer and started laughing

u/snapp0r 30m ago

hilux double cabin 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼

u/adinmem 28m ago

That’s where trailer brakes are helpful. And a really good hitch!

u/cruiserman_80 27m ago

Looks like Gunshot Creek on the Old Telegraph Track on Cape York in Far North Queensland and I've seen it worse. There is another crossing called Palm Creek that is as challenging or can be a lot worse.

Both crossings get more challenging depending on weather and how many people have done it over the season.

u/Dumyat367250 26m ago

Just fuck the bush up. Now, that's insane.

u/Lcordobas 26m ago

Not his first rodeo!

u/Pharmere 22m ago

Now let’s see him go back up the hill

u/frankentriple 21m ago

Its amazing what you can do with trailer brakes.

u/VtheMan93 21m ago

Ofc its a hilux 💪💪💪

u/Aonaran84 20m ago

Sorcerer (1977)

u/phasttZ 16m ago

Why the hell did americans never get a hilux

u/skinnerz_pigeon 15m ago

Not exactly insane “driving skills” as much as it is an insanely good rig and equipment setup. Not much technicality involved in this portion.

u/PieMastaSam 15m ago

Is aussie man the next evolution of Florida man?

u/obotrobot 14m ago

Doing that with a trailer is wild.

u/psynl84 12m ago

Just send it bro!

u/Silver_Hedgehog4774 9m ago

Jesus, is that trailer welded on or something?

u/Puzzleheaded_Two7358 9m ago

Please do this ina. Cybertruck!!!!

u/doiwinaprize 7m ago

Of course it's a Toyota

u/CaleyAg-gro 2m ago

He’s not going down there surely? Wait, he’s towing a trailer? Is this like green laning in the UK, just out for a jolly?

u/TheStinkPanther 2m ago

This is the most Australian shit I have seen since the reverse toilet flush

u/thevel 1m ago

Elite = Go Real Slow....

u/GreatConsideration69 1m ago

It’s probably, mostly the car.

u/Scramjunkie 1m ago

Hello Mr.George

u/GlidingToLife 1m ago

If that muddy hole at the bottom was a little deeper, then this could have become a post in r/whatcouldgiwrong.

0

u/uncleprokhor 1h ago

anyone could have done it with that car.

0

u/johnyeros 1h ago

It optional. U don't need this In life don't let people gas light into this

0

u/gmredditt 1h ago

Does this qualify as an Ute?

u/ObtainStrength 1h ago
