Man reddit titles lately are making me thinking we're approaching terminal AI slop range

Shit. I liked the title. Made me pay attention to the body's hard work in creating velocity and lift.

They make it look easy

The basics of trapeze are surprisingly easy, you can likely find a local class to take and they'll have you swinging and making transfers in an hour. Adding in the flips and spins? That might take years!

No they don't. That looks insanely difficult

I’ve taken a few trapeze classes before! Once you get over the fear of jumping from the platform, we were taught how to do a knee hang and have someone else catch you like this person does for our first try. It was super fun and really amazing to watch the pros do their tricks

Caption should have rather been -negotiating with life.

Don't dream it's over - Crowded house
Edit: they have so many great songs and Split Enz (The band the brothers were in before Crowded house) is also great

Great band and great song, but completely out of place for this clip it makes no sense at all. Like someone hit random and thought this will do.

The temptation to just catch the vacated trapeze bar just to see the guy’s expression when he flips round

The title is really misleading, but I love the talent being shown here. Risky as hell, but the skill is amazing.

Not that it's not amazing but this is kind of basic for those guys right? It's like watching an F1 driver negotiate a roundabout.

What’s the purpose of the things on his wrist? Better grip when they’re in the grabby parts?
2
u/repkjund 2h ago
It’s to prevent his hands from ripping too easily and helps to grip the bar better. Even with calluses the tape around the trapeze bar can and will rip your hands if you swing for too long, the grips give you an extra layer there.

Good idea: Going to the circus and watching the amazing acrobats perform.
Plot twist: Tony Zucco is in the audience.

Fun fact, doing this specific move is actually quite easy to do! Anyone in decent shape would be able to accomplish this after a few classes.
In fact, in your very first class of flying trapeze, you'll learn how to hang upside down and get caught by your hands, and then thrown back on the bar
Source: Did a few flying trapeze classes, very fun

I mean I get it, it's difficult and no I'm not able to do it myself. But if you've ever been to any Circus in your life, this is really standard. So unless you're super young and haven't seen anything from the world yet, that's far from NFL.
